With the premiere of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire just hours away, a few early reviews from publications in the UK have appeared online. One gives it 3 out of 5 stars in what seems more like an recap of the movie than a review, one is a more in-depth review from four kids and their aunt and the last one discusses the actors and the plot.
From The Times
:
What's fresh about the Goblet of Fire is the intriguing tension between the feeble and the strong. This has always been Rowling's tug of war. The playground duels between Harry and his peers are as bitter as ever, but there's a delicious sense of anarchy about boarding school life. For the first time we sense what makes Harry tick under pressure.
From the Guardian
:
By common consent, among my party at least, this is the best Potter on film yet and, while I'm no expert, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The wit, panache and special effects put you in mind of the best of the Bond films, while the fabulous acting from the likes of Frances de la Tour, Maggie Smith, Miranda Richardson and Robbie Coltrane put me in mind of the St. Trinian's films.
From the Telegraph
:
Fear and sadness are expertly portrayed, and no matter how much you love or hate the book you'll have a hard time not getting drawn into this movie.
UPDATE: AICN
have also posted a review of the film in which the reviewer gives it a B+, only because there is too much humor in the film.

The reviews look good so far. But 3 out of 5 stars??? Then again, these arent movies where you can really go by what a critic says, unless they are a fan of the movies and books as well. I'd much rather read all the fan reviews than newspaper reviews anyday! I think thats the true way to tell if the movies gonna be good!

From all accounts and clips that have been released, GOF can't help but be the best yet. The actors have matured, the sets are well established. Technology is awesome. It's going to be unbelievable!

These are pretty good reviews, so excited for the movie! But why 3 out of 5 stars? I guess the critics don't look at it from a HP reader's point of view..

Great reviews except for the 3/5 stars, but whatever. Some of the best movies get bad reviews.

Well cant say I love them or hate the reviews but who cares I'll still go see it a thousand times. Besides even the greatest movies dont get the credit they so rightly desire.

Im a little upset that it is Neville showing Harry the gillyweed, not Dobby. But, that was Moody's intention anyways, so it is not that bad of a change. It sounds awesome, I wish I were in New York for the U.S. Premiere on the 12. I guess I will have to wait until the 18 and watch down here in good ol' Florida. Hope everyone who sees it enjoys it.

I expected this to be the best movie in the series. Newell was the best choice for GoF. They should get him back for sixth.
