Having celebrated the Thanksgiving weekend in the U.S. the number one movie at the box-office was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The fourth movie in the series brought in over $81 million dollars, raising it's take in the U.S. to over $201 million, and over $408 million worldwide, putting it ahead of the previous movies.
This puts Goblet of Fire ahead of all previous Harry Potter movies according to BoxOfficeMojo
and ComingSoon.net.
That clear-cut winner was once again Warner Bros' Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the fourth installment in the series, which made another $81 million over the five-day Thanksgiving holiday, as estimated $55 million over the weekend, bringing its total just over $201 million in just ten days. This puts it well ahead of the first installment of the Harry Potter series, which earned $187 million by the end of its second weekend four years ago, and the second movie Chamber of Secrets, which took a whole week longer to reach the $200 million mark. It is now the fourth fastest movie to reach that milestone behind the two Spider-Man movies and Star Wars: Episode III.
Reuters
adds:
The top foreign markets for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire include Britain with $51.3 million, Germany with $35.5 million and Mexico with $13.6 million, all after two weekends, according to Warner Bros. Pictures.
In North America, Harry Potter sold an estimated $54.9 million worth of tickets in the three days beginning Friday. The 10-day haul of $201.1 million handily beats the comparable performances of the first three films, led by the $186 million tally for the first one, 2001's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
Official returns will be released tomorrow afternoon.

It's no big suprise that it was going to make this much money!!! With each release of a movie, there are more people that jump onto the potter bandwagon...so it's bound to make more each run...However I am happy to say that I've contributed to this cause 4 times, and will at least twice more before it goes out of theatres...

harrypotterfreak_4life I love your avatar, I laughed so hard at that in the theaters. Neville is so adorable. And yeah, I think that PG-13 actually HELPED the franchise...hard core HP fans knew that they couldn't sucessfully make the movie without that rating....sweeet!

Sweet, that's amazing! But it makes sense, if you combine the unbelievable commercial franchise that is HP, with the die-hard fans all over the world that'll see it over and over, with the Hollywood greatness of the movie itself.

I thought it would make more! I was a little worried since everyone said the PG-13 rating was bad, but it turned out to be not a problem at all! I just hope they make 2 movies for OotP since there is so much to include, but I really doubt they would do that. Here's hoping!
