While editors placed it at eighth, they offered another interesting choice: "Best book for kids not yet ready for Harry Potter." (It's Leonardo, the Terrible Monster by Mo Willems.)
Other categories include "Worst book by a celebrity," "Best unmasking of a historical monster" and "Most overstated title."

Amazing! These people just figured this out! I mean all the fans knew that since July 16, but I guess one can't expect everyone to be as bright as the fans.

Wow, I think the public has a little better taste than the book editors, actually. #3, The Historian? That was the most boring and pointless thing I've ever read. It's a book about... another book. And going to libraries. Then going to more libraries. It gets exciting in the last page. HBP was much better than #3 for sure. (And please, please, don't buy that 'Natural Cures' book... the moronic man who wrote it is going to end up killing people who believe that his nonsense is better for them than medicine.)
Anyways, there's my two cents about the book list. YAY HBP! Seriously, seriously amazing book.

How can they be any good if no one reads them? I mean serisously, I love books, and I wouldn't read half the books on the list. The value of a book is in the fact that it's read. I haven't even heard of them.
Anyway, HARRY POTTER!!!!!! It most definetly was the best book of 2005. At least in my mind.
And number seven will own 2007!!!! Hopefully. *gets twtichy urge for the book. Hunts JK down and steals the last chapter. Reads it. The cops find me screaming at the moronic ending and have to put me in a straight jacket*

But this doesn't make any sense. First they say it number 1, so who placed it at number 8? Harry Potter is a clear winner!

I have always found it extremely interesting that even with Potter always scoring hugely on fan-based voting that it rates relatively low with editors and critics. I think everyone is just so jealous of J.K>'s success that they can't bear to give her the literary credit she deserves. Harry Potter should have been at the top of every book, movie, media, and every other influntial list for the last 10 years and into the future.
