While editors placed it at eighth, they offered another interesting choice: "Best book for kids not yet ready for Harry Potter." (It's Leonardo, the Terrible Monster by Mo Willems.)
Other categories include "Worst book by a celebrity," "Best unmasking of a historical monster" and "Most overstated title."

Well, duh! As if it comes as a surprise to any of us on HPANA that HBP came out on top. I'm also less than surprised at some of the slams mentioned, but I couldn't care less about them. :-)

That's awesome. i loved this book. It't my second favorite with Goblet of fire being first but i really love ginny/harry and the big part draco had. he's usually just a minor character but i loved that he was more importanat even though he's on the bad side but we'll see what happens because deep down i want to believe he's a good boy.

There's no doubt in my mind that HBP was the best book of 2005. This book was so amazing it even halted the preparation for the presentation of my Masters thesis for a day while I took a break to read it! NOW THAT'S POWERFUL LITERATURE!

Very true, very true. I don't have time to read the other 255 comments, but I'm shure I pretty much agree to all of them. Of course it was so good. Although the third was best, her writing just gets so much better- not that any were badly written, of course.
They are just SO fabulous!!

Well Harry Potter is today one of the most famous books in the world than has ever been wrote! J.K.Rowling has a remarkable imagination, the originality of the subject of this book is on of a kind, in fact J.K.Rowling is on of the most outstanding writers in the world, I like her ideas very mush! The book, Harry Potter renew my love and passion for the U,K and speatialy England even thought I experss my self mush more better in Frensh (my matternel language), it is remarkable what a simple book can influance on you, take for example: me, who love England and love reading, and that thanks to J.K.Rowling and her large imaginatioanal ideas! So it is no wonder that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has been voted "the best book of 2005 in USA Today's Readers' Choice poll".

I'm glad to see that the readers chose it as their favorite novel, but I'm also sad to see that it was ranked eighth by the editors. J.K. Rowling is such an incredible author, and this was one of the better written of the books. I think it deserves a higher ranking than eighth by the editors.

I so did not expect this from Americans, I always thought that it was us, the British people who are more of the reading like and certainly if they did read they wouldnt find it interesting because its British, thats what I thought but turns out they are afterall interested.
