That represents some really tough competition. However, I think the odds are good for GOF. Particularly given the new composer and the complicated scenes.

Fingers crossed that HP wins. The sound was brilliant. Just to compare I have seen some recent big budget films where the sound hasn't been up to scratch and you know they could have done better. With the HP films I forget I am in a cinema. The music is all well placed and appropriate and adds to the effect of everything else.
Kudos to all the people involved in HP!

I can not wait for the day that harry gets nominated for all the major categories and actually wins them! Unfortunatley, we will probably have to wait till movie seven for a clean sweep (like Lord of the Rings had to wait for return of the king to get a clean sweep).

Whoa stiff competition for GOF. There are several movies that deserve to win this Oscar. Academy voters would you consider giving two Oscars in this tough category? :)

I hope harry potter and the goblet of fire gets the award achievement in sound editing. I think harry potter defintely deserves it. And to knock out other movies for this award would be outstanding.

Good stuff.
Harry Potter is up against some fine competition. Harry Potter is indeed the best movie of 2005, but when it comes to sound editing, War of the Worlds was pretty good. The sound effects were truly amazing, not to mention in Star Wars III:The revenge of the Sith.
Narnia was amazing too, and just might walk away with the prize.

Just so you all know, it didn't get the nomination yet. That list just means it has a chance of getting a nomination in that catagory. It also got "short listed" for visual effects.

I don't understand what is involved in sound editing. I'm sure it's not as simple as the best song or best soundtrack categories.
