Warner Bros. are holding an open casting call for the character of Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on Saturday, according
to CBBC Newsround.
Girls must be aged 13-16 and have a valid passport. The casting call will be at Hall Westminster, Storey's Gate, in London:
Applicants should bring a passport to prove their age, and dress warmly - there could be a long wait!
Anybody who doesn't have a passport won't be seen, and neither will girls who don't live in the UK or Ireland, and Luna is the only part they're looking for.
Warner Bros. will be taking photos and calling back girls they're interested in for a proper audition.
For the full address, click through to CBBC's article. Thanks to them for sending the tip!
UPDATE: A video of the news report is now available
where CBBC Newsround spoke with the Harry Potter film casting director, Fiona Weir
, who had this to say about casting for Luna Lovegood:
[Luna]'s very otherworldly, she's not like anybody else. She's almost an outsider who likes to watch people and she's slightly detached from the world. And she's a very interesting and unusual girl so it's that sort of quality we're looking for.
We have met lots of fantastic girls... but holding an open call is just a way of us making sure there isn't anyone we might have missed. No final decisions have been made.
UPDATE #2: WB sent us the official notice, which adds:
No experience necessary
COME AS YOURSELF – STRICTLY NO MAKE-UP, NO COSTUMES, NO HIGH HEELS.

I don't get why they have to live either in Ireland or U.K. And also the age part. I once came across a thread where one of the actors that was being discussed was way older than the character was meant to be but they still casted her. So why the change of heart in the Luna character.
For me, as long as the actress is just like the character, then she'd be perfect. But it is preferable that she is near Luna's age.

I personally think that warner brothers is doing the right thing. They want to be true to the book and I think that is the way to do it. People from America or other parts of the world most likely don't have the best accent they want. Luna is a light skinned british teenage girl, and i dont blame them for trying to find exactly that. though I am a little dissapointed I can't go, I respect and support that desision completely.

Well, personally, I would be offended as a fan if they picked ANYONE from outside the UK to play Luna. I think it would be a slam to the books that we all love and it would not do justice to the character at all. I think they are awesome for taking that stand and making the films closely aligned with the books.
Are their any American witches and/or wizards mentioned at the school? NO...they probably have their own school, as does France and Eastern Europe.
Good for them, and Good Luck to all HPANA members that audition!

Luna Lovegood is a good and odd character. They will have to hire someone who brings both these items to the table for her personality. It will good to find out who will be luna lovegood.

Good Luck to everyone trying out for the part!
I really do hope they manage to find a perfect girl for the part.
I would be immensely dissapointed if they don't get her just right. They should. They have the right time and resources and things.
If LUNA's out there in the UK, she better go and get herself in that audition!

Mmm how exciting. I love pre-production jitters. Good girl Fiona Weir; I think expanding the circle of possible candidates is a good thing, and hopefully will lead to some better casting (the previous two movies were bearable but not quite up to what it could've been). And I do hope we get some queue pictures/interviews etc of fans going for it. Too bad I'm in NYC at the moment; I'd love to see how much longer the lines are for this casting as the criteria's a bit broader than for the minority characters.
Good luck to those who apply and can make it to the open call. And don't despair if you don't make it, there are other movies you can audition for no matter what country you're in (albeit not with the same pedigree as the HP series).

It is so irritating. My family immigrated from Scotland and Ireland, not long before I was born. I fit the whole description of Luna, but... (sorry, had to whinge and get that off my chest)
Oh well. It is good they're keeping it in the UK, otherwise the films just wouldn't be British boarding school.

I was climbing up the hard overhanging wall in rock climbing when my friend el shouted did you see newsround>? They're doing an open casting call for Luna Lovegood. I fell off and kicked my friend Jess in the head. I'm phoning my dad to ask him to take me now. I'll let you know what he says. I have bright blue eyes and I have like, multi coloured light hair. It could be dyed. I don't know? I really want the role though. I love acting not just Luna but Luna's my fav character that's female. I think I'll cry if my dad says I can't go - I'll cry if he says I can!!!
