Aaron Lambert, a security guard who stole two copies of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has been sentenced
to four-and-a-half-years for a firearms offence connected to the theft of the book before it was released.
Judge Richard Bray said at the sentencing:
You realised the books had considerable potential value. It was only through the good services of the press and police that fans of Harry Potter - both young and old were able to read the book without their pleasure being polluted by the premature publication of the plot.

That was so crazy. 4 1/2 years is a pretty long time. Thank god the book wasn't released early.

I'm glad the man was caught and that it prevented the story from leaking out to the fans. But 4.5 years? I don't think you get that much for burglary or if you rob someone!!
They should make the guy pay a really big fine instead and give the money to charity.

4 1/2 years seems a long sentence. I hope that it was a serious offence with the fire-arms or I think that our legal system was perhaps a little harsh in that case.

GOOD this should have been a much longer sentance for firearms, as well as trying to spoil the release of Half blood prince.

I am glad that he has been punished, it would have been awful to have the book spoiled for us - but I agree - people who commit manslaughter or kill kids while driving under the influence get less than this!! A little perspective on things is called for I think.

four and a half years.... wait, he used firearms? I thought he just stole it... well, I can understand the sentance if he used guns, for a minute I thought that he was being sentenced unfairly for a moment...

Why would someone want to dissapoint the world like that? Seriously? You'd be remembered as "the guy who stole Harry Potter" and have to deal with the wrath of millions of Potter fans-which, might have been a better sentence, release him into a room filled with Die-Hard Potter fans, and see how you come out.

About time and well deserved. Hard to believe that someone would go to all this trouble when just waiting a short time would satisfy any curiosity and avoid any personal problem. If he intended to spoil things, then he should have gotten a stiffer sentence. At least he won't be around when Book 7 comes out.

4 1/2 years . . . that's a long time, but I don't like thieves so I guess I'm in the middle on this one, 4 1/2 might be a bit too long, but he deserves it, maybe he'll learn his lesson and WORK for a living, like everyone else

This is pure corruption! I cant some judge would say that!
The books aren´t that important! They are simple objects, these men would have only 1/2 sentance if you ask me... and even with firearms.... prison is more worse place than any other...i think.

Why would anyone want to steal the 6th book when they can buy it at a really cheap price. I don't understand, now they have to face 4 years in prison over 2 books... really good books.. ok maybe it does make sense.

Of course, Harry + Ginny! YES, I love it!! The other thing is, he deserves the sentence he was given! Bad, Bad security guard for being a thief! You get punished-4 1/2 years for you!
