JK Rowling
, along with other renowned authors, has donated handwritten work to be auctioned off for the benefit of Book Aid International
. The organization is responsibile for "putting books into the hands of the world's most disadvantaged readers."
The Harry Potter author has put up for auction a drawn layout of the Black Family Tree, which was first introduced to readers in (the fifth book) Order of the Phoenix, that reveals members of the wizarding community not previously mentioned in the series -- although with familiar surnames. The Daily Telegraph
has recently released a portion of this drawing and scans of their article
are available online, courtesy of TLC.
The items are to be auctioned on the 21st of February -- click here
for more information. Thanks to Pearl for the tip!

Whoa...
That is really cool, I wish I could buy that at the auction, but only the most affluent ever get these awesome stuff. Hmm, I hope we can at least get the full tree, just for the sake of getting information.

Well the article said that the full tree would be on display for a limited amount of time, the day before (I'm discouraged to believe cameras would be allowed a close-up). And considering it'll be put up for auction, I think only the winning bidder would have the choice in giving us a full scan... but if a collector just spent thousands of pounds on a rare Rowling sketch, it's highly unlikely he/she would lower the value by sharing the information (kinda like the card that was auctioned off containing words related to book 5 years ago). :-/

"There are several familiar names visible, including Callidora who married a Harfang Longbottom. Her sister Charis who married Caspar Crouch. Intriguingly there is a Dorea (1920-1977) who married Charles Potter and had one child, a son. The time frame seems to be consistent with them being James' parents. "
Does this mean Harry is related to the Blacks & Neville too or something? Ah, this is awful I am so confused... but that is a great thing for JKR to do!! :)

I hope whoever buys that gets it up on the internet pronto. I think it would be one heck of a treat for fans to get some of the Sirius ancestry mysteries cleared up...I just hope it can be put online legally.

WOw, JK does so much great stuff for people. She really is a great person and it's such a great idea to give away stuff like that. It would be neat to see the black family tree. I think it's cool how all the pure-blood families are related and it's neat to find out who those families are. ONce again, JK is a great author and helper.

Do you know this makes Harry, Millicent Bulstrode, Burke, Yaxley (DE), Neville and Barty Crouch all related along with Ron, Weasleys, Sirius etc.
I've written an article (including information on the people in it) on my site: http://www.hprules.zoomshare.com/
Jo is the best.
