JK Rowling
, along with other renowned authors, has donated handwritten work to be auctioned off for the benefit of Book Aid International
. The organization is responsibile for "putting books into the hands of the world's most disadvantaged readers."
The Harry Potter author has put up for auction a drawn layout of the Black Family Tree, which was first introduced to readers in (the fifth book) Order of the Phoenix, that reveals members of the wizarding community not previously mentioned in the series -- although with familiar surnames. The Daily Telegraph
has recently released a portion of this drawing and scans of their article
are available online, courtesy of TLC.
The items are to be auctioned on the 21st of February -- click here
for more information. Thanks to Pearl for the tip!

I remember reading about this and seeing this posted on some other site, Lexicon I think? and I remember thinking that Dorea and Charlus could be Harry's grandparents. I mean, the date would fit in and all that but it's great that we see how the families are all interconnected.

She really is an awesome person. She seems to be tireless in her efforts to help people who are disadvantaged in some way or another. I only wish I had the capacity to follow her inspiration. It's a pretty cool item as well - I would certainly pay to own it, except that I'm sure I don't have nearly enough money to even buy a single charred corner.

Cool. I wanna see it. Interesting that James's parents (Harry's grandparents) might be on it. Meaning Harry would be (distantly) related to Sirius, and also Malfoy.

Rock on Jo Rowling! The Book Aid International were probably honored to get the Black Family Tree, not to mention, those many disadvantaged readers. That was a really nice thing to do. I'm sure everyone appreciated getting something from one of the most sought out authors of our time! You have to admit, J.K. Rowling is one of the best writers out there!

Wow! That is cool! I wonder how much that is going to be sold for. I would buy it but I don't know if I could afford it since there are probably a lot of Harry Potter fans out there who would like to own something like the black family tree. I wonder if I could use that for my school project. I need a family tree. guess that would nopt work out very well however because I am not exactly related to them. I wish I was but unless JK Rowling decides to write me into her books, then I will not be. I would like to be related though, because then I would know Harry Potter and then I would talk to him, but I am getting slightly off topic since I am writing about how I would like to know Harry Potter when this is supposed to be about the Black Family Tre eing auctioned off. I am done writing I guess, because I have run out of things to write about so I guess this is goodbye.....For Now!
