JK Rowling
, along with other renowned authors, has donated handwritten work to be auctioned off for the benefit of Book Aid International
. The organization is responsibile for "putting books into the hands of the world's most disadvantaged readers."
The Harry Potter author has put up for auction a drawn layout of the Black Family Tree, which was first introduced to readers in (the fifth book) Order of the Phoenix, that reveals members of the wizarding community not previously mentioned in the series -- although with familiar surnames. The Daily Telegraph
has recently released a portion of this drawing and scans of their article
are available online, courtesy of TLC.
The items are to be auctioned on the 21st of February -- click here
for more information. Thanks to Pearl for the tip!

Just another example of how wonderful JK is. Not only is she allowing this to be auctioned off for a very good cause, but it just shows once again how much back-story she has on these books. It's one thing to have the story your writing and some additional information on the characters in the books, but to have info on characters we never see and are connected to the characters in the book is just amazing!!
I really wish I had the money to bid on this item....Hmmm...maybe I can talk hubby into spending out tax refund on it. Oh well, it probably wouldn't be enough even if I was able too. One can dream though!!

I'm dying to know who is this Charles Potter, and his son... Is it just a coincidence like Mark Evans and Lily Evans?

Harree Potter says:
That family tree is awesome. O.K., we over at the wizard war thread have already discovered that Charlus Potter and Dorea (from the tree) could not be Harry's grandparents because his grandparents were "very old" when they died, whereas Dorea died when she was 57.
So, it is possible that Charlus was Harry's great-uncle..

AncientJoy says:
If I am reading this right, Harry could very well be a Black? I know that his grandparents died very old, but couldn't that have just been his maternal grandparents? If not and Harree Potter is right, then it's still interesting to think that Harry is related to the Black family if only in marriage.
