Contrary to a most recent report
, Warner Bros. has just confirmed to us that Gary Oldman will be reprising his role as Sirius Black for the fifth film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Additionally, David Thewlis is also confirmed to return and reprise his role as Remus Lupin.
Both actors are expected to start filming later this summer.
UPDATE: HPANA has learned that despite this announcement, no contract has been presented to or signed with Gary Oldman. Details here.

I am happy that David has signed, and I hope they pay him a nice amount of dough, 'cause he deserves it.
As for Gary, I don't understand why they are playing cat and mouse, WB knows he has to be in the movie, and they have money enough for this film topay him what he asks for, so what are they waiting for? Besides, I find it very unprofessional to confirm that he will be in the movie before his signing.

It would be most disappointing if these two main characters were not included in this film. Furthermore, it would be ashame if the actors themselves were replaced. No one likes seeing a great actor traded in such a mass movie by a mediocre actor, sorry.
Lets hope they both sign up soon. I would really rather watch the original casts.

I can't wait for this movie to come out, so that I can go see it. I hope all the cast is the same and I hope that they don't cut too much out like they did on GOF. Because, GOF is my favourite book and I was a little upset when I found out they cut a lot out of the movie.
