Contrary to a most recent report
, Warner Bros. has just confirmed to us that Gary Oldman will be reprising his role as Sirius Black for the fifth film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Additionally, David Thewlis is also confirmed to return and reprise his role as Remus Lupin.
Both actors are expected to start filming later this summer.
UPDATE: HPANA has learned that despite this announcement, no contract has been presented to or signed with Gary Oldman. Details here.

Thank goodness! I read the article about Gary Oldman on Wizard News and was worried for a while there, I couldn't imagine trying to do OoTP without Sirius! O_o Glad to hear everything's in order now with him and with Remus, too. :D

You'd think Gary would WANT to be in this movie. It's the last time he'll appear (as far as we know) and he has more of an important and exciting part than in GoF!

Thank goodness! It would not be the same without them. Personally, I think if any actor signs on to be in an HP film, they should have to commit to see it through. It's common knowledge that there will be 7, after all.

I'm glad that Oldman will be Sirius again. It would make it better if the same actor plays the character that they portrayed from the previous movie. Though my feelings are not the same for Thewlis. I didn't like him as Lupin the last time. I wish they had changed to someone better. Someone cooler.

Yay! I love it when the original cast members come back. It keeps people from confusion and unrest (I don't know where the "unrest" came from, but just let it go). Too bad this is Oldman's last movie. If you haven't read the book, which I'm sure you know already, just ignore that last sentence.
