Gary Oldman has not yet been presented with or signed a contract to appear in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, HPANA has confirmed.
Despite a recent statement from the studio, we have learned and double-confirmed that no agreement has been made.
"At this time Gary Oldman is not set to appear in the next Potter film," manager Doug Urbanski told HPANA. "I cannot explain why the studio confirmed his appearance."
It's unlikely Oldman wouldn't reprise his role as Sirius Black in the fifth film.
Note: This does not imply he won't be in the movie, just that there's no current definitive agreement for him to appear.

They'd better just sign him up already, I mean it would be really bad if a new Sirius was introduced just to up and leave at the end of this film anyways. I think some non-HP fans may be a bit confused. Hope we hear Gary's confirmation soon!

Do we know if the confirmation from the studios about David reprising his role as Remus is true, or is that another weird statement?
They both better be back in the fifth film!

If Gary ends up not joining the cast, I think I will be very disinterested in the movie. It just seems really pointless to start a movie series without having the most important characters played by the same actors throughout. Obviously things come up and it's not always possible to get the same people back each time, but for as many people as the studio will tick off if they don't get Gary (and David) back, I would think they'd be WAYYYY more careful about what information they release.
Very sad until Gary signs.....
