With the awards season soon coming to an end Empire magazine has announced the nominees for their Sony Ericsson Empire Awards, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has received nods in the new category 'Best Sci-fi/Fantasy' and in the 'Best British Movie' category.
Goblet will be up against the following in the Best Sci-fi/Fantasy category:
The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe
King Kong
Serenity
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith
In the Best British Movie category Goblet will have to beat:
The Descent
The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy
Pride & Prejudice
Stoned
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit
The winners will be announced on March 13th in the UK and thanks to everyone for the emails.

I hope they win! GoF was a brilliant film, but tough competition from Wallace and Grommit! That movie seems to be gtting recongnition from everywhere! It was a good film but Id still like GoF to win both. But it wont be easy. I will still hope though!

It better win! The only other movies I like on that list are Wallace and Gromit and Star Wars III.

I just refuse to get my hopes up. The awards people just don't seem to be able to recognize Harry Potter for anything. It's like the movie is invisible.

Hm, well it's definitely up against a lot of great competitors. i think in the british awards department (which i had no idea they had) they have a really good chance of winning, however in teh category of best sci-fi/fantasy one they're definitely going to have a tough time beating out star wars, king kong and the chronicles of narnia because they were such hits too. also star wars: revenge of the sith might get it just because it's the last installment of the sage you know? but i really hope that they win at least one of the categories because i believe they really did an extra excellent job with this movie and definitely deserve the award. so cross your fingers!

Harsh...although i like GOF more then the other films, they are very hard competition and ive got a feeling GOF is in trouble...annoying that the film came out when all these did, it deserves so many awards, being far better then the previous films in the series.
