Warner Home Video announced
earlier this evening that approximately 5 million copies of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire were sold in North America on the first day. Business is expected to continue through the Spring making the film's franchise one of the best selling DVD franchises in history.
Ron Sanders, President, Warner Home Video said:
We knew fans really connected with this installment in the Harry Potter series, and that continued loyalty to the franchise has carried over to these phenomenal DVD sales figures.

Thats really cool. I got mine the first day too. I heard other people mention that some places were sold out. I wonder how many of the 5 million were of 2 disc and how many were single disc. i wouldnt be surprised if nearly all were 2 disc.

That is a buttload of DVDs.
Hopefully nobody else is having the same problem as me where the DVD doesn't play after Voldemort returns! It just starts sputtering and flickering and then stops. How lame is that? I have to go get it exchanged today. Sad. Sad.

Not realy a suprise, its to be expected that the sales in the DVDs will increase as the series continues as it picks up more fans both from the book and fans who get hooked by the films. Theyre getting much better as they go on, and gOF was fantastic, by far the best. Noticed they didnt say how much it sold in China? Always about america *shakes head* its got a large population, so expected large sales, i want to know about the rest of the world, not just there. THink of all the money...*whistles* deffinately a lucrative buisness.

Hahaha, the incidents of people getting the wrong ones probabily helped. ;) But gosh, everyone I know got the wrong one and had to either buy a new one or return it and stuff. Still, I'm glad the DVDs doing good. =)
AND I GOT MINE! =D It actually came yesterday, but my dad HID it, =( so I couldn't watch it when I was sick and home all day. But I wacthed it at night, just not the speical features. xP I told him not to do that to me again, for I might go into another stage of insanity.

That is not a surprise to me because the movie was AMAZING. Although a few parts were a bit of a letdown, but overall I was so excited throughout the entire showing even though I have read the book countless times. I still have to get the DVD...ahh I haven't had time, but I am excited to see all the cool features I heard that are included.
