Warner Bros. today confirmed what several entertainment and fan sites reported recently: that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be opening in theatres July 13, 2007.
Earlier, sources told us the date was targeted but that Warner Bros. had not absolutely committed to it. Targeting a release date is not uncommon, as it gives the studios and their competitors a chance to stake a claim for opening weekends (and who wants to go up against a Harry Potter movie?). In many cases, a targeted date becomes the official date.
Admittedly, this doesn't bode well for the popular fan speculation that book 7 will be released 07/07/07, unless WB and the Potter book publishers don't care about such a close release window. Still, producer David Heyman promised recently that the first teaser trailer will be out later this year.
Update: WB has since confirmed several international release dates.

Yay it's official July 13, 2007 I can't wait to see Ootp. It's funny though that the release date is out and the movie isn't even finished filming yet but the downfall of the movie coming out on the 13th is that the book will most likely not be out on the 7th.

If everyone was smart they could make July of 2007 officially HARRY POTTER MONTH. (Just kidding) Its good enough to have a realease date for movie and books. I will be able to read final harry potter and then relax as I compare the foreshadowing in past movies to what was accumilated into final book. (I know MAJOR GEEK ALERT.) Everyone needs a hobby and because I am disabled I tend to have A LITTLE more TIME on my hands and mind. (Who needs a turner when you have cable internet and NO cable (Or even regular) Tv. (Thats why I watch movies and read ALL THE TIME.

Wow, I am torn. I expected the book 7/7/07, Frankly I would prefer that. Unless it means that the book could be out by 12/06, it seems impossible. The patern is always Summer or Winter never both so I guess if the book releases 7/07, then the book will be November or December in 06 or 07. Ha-Like I know....
