HPANA has learned from a reliable and authoritative source that UK composer Nicholas Hooper
will score the soundtrack for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Hooper is a long-time collaborator of director David Yates and most of his credits are for television projects in Britain.
He won a BAFTA for Best Original Score in 2004 for one such project, according to a biography on his agents' web site.
Order of the Phoenix is slated to be released July 13, 2007.
UPDATE: This news was confirmed by Warner Bros. on August 2.

I wish him good luck, the only thing I want from him is bringing the dark mood to the movie, also all the tension and the action, I want the music in the fight with voldemort and death eaters in the ministry to be PERFECT!

Why? Why change something that was soooo good. They would not change the trio, they should not change the great music that was with Williams.

I'm not going to judge this guy since I haven't heard his stuff. I just miss John Williams! His score for POA was absolutely genius, one of my favorite film scores ever. Hopefully this guy'll be good.

I think change is good. While I liked what Williams did the switch to Doyle was not disappointing to me. I loved his GOF score. We need to give this guy a chance. Who knows? His score may win an Academy Award.

There's a new face I haven't seen before. Well it is a new movie and new director, so I guess a new scorer was inevitable. Lets just hope none of the actors leave!

I am very much afraid with the outcome of OotP: first David-unknown-Yates, and then he brings this friend of his, Nicholas- whoareyou- Hooper. Not to speak about the disasters with the casting (the girl playing Tonks, to begin with, or their reluctance to secure Gary Oldman's participation). The producers are too convinced that no matter how bad the film results, hordes of fans will go and see the movie. And that is too much an assumption on their part, I think.

I think that it is nice that someone new is going to work on the soundtrack. I hope that he captures the magic of Harry Potter. Both Williams and Doyle got the essence of the magic, I Hope that Hooper does too.

I'm sure that as much as we miss the old composer, he will do an excellent job also.
At least we can hope so.
