HPANA has learned from a reliable and authoritative source that UK composer Nicholas Hooper
will score the soundtrack for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Hooper is a long-time collaborator of director David Yates and most of his credits are for television projects in Britain.
He won a BAFTA for Best Original Score in 2004 for one such project, according to a biography on his agents' web site.
Order of the Phoenix is slated to be released July 13, 2007.
UPDATE: This news was confirmed by Warner Bros. on August 2.

AuroraDawn, I can't say I agree with you, Patrick Doyle gave the GOF score something original. The earlier scores are a bit too reminiscent of Star Wars.
But this is, of course, just my opinion.

What movies has he worked on? I've never heard of him. Why can't they stick to John Williams? John Williams is one of the best composers I know of and he's done really well with the other HPs. *annoyed groan*

Shame that they can't get consistency, but if he won a BAFTA, he should be OK.

Patrick Doyle did a great job, i did like Williams but Nicholas Hooper has done some great composion for BBC in the past and he will do a great job, so don't worry, change is never a bad thing it just follows the theme for the books, changes to Harry as a person, as well as changes to the actor for dumbledore a new composer is a good thing for the OotP soundtrack

Well, i hope he's good, but its good to have different composers, so that the music won't be repetitive, but fresh and original.

Well that means that the music will really sound different now!!! i wish that they would just stay with one person so that it wouldn't sound so different i just don't like that fact about the whole person that will be doing the music i mean im not trying to say that they are bad but just stick with one person so that they all don't sound so funny thourghout the series thats all that im trying to say. ;) ;P

This solidifies that theory of the director using composer they have worked with in the past. Like Columbus and Williams; Newell and Doyle. But like the other news story, this has yet to be confirmed by WB according to Mugglenet. But there is something about this dude that would be okay in my book if he is to be chosen to do the score.
