HPANA has learned from a reliable and authoritative source that UK composer Nicholas Hooper
will score the soundtrack for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Hooper is a long-time collaborator of director David Yates and most of his credits are for television projects in Britain.
He won a BAFTA for Best Original Score in 2004 for one such project, according to a biography on his agents' web site.
Order of the Phoenix is slated to be released July 13, 2007.
UPDATE: This news was confirmed by Warner Bros. on August 2.

Well, we always hear the original Harry Potter theme, scored by WIlliams in every movie. I think it is cool to have a different person score the soundtrack of every movie. The first three had amuch lighter score, the GOF soundtrack was really intense, as was the subject matter. The Order of the Phoenix will be even more so, imagine what the music would be like when the members of the order come to the rescue of the trio x 2. Then imagine how it will change when Sirius falls through the curtain. That will be the saddest thing I have ever seen on film. Shock at first and then as Remus holds Harry back, just utter sadness.

That is quite disappointing. I really like John Williams. It'll be interesting to see what musical similarities will be carried through to the next two movies.

Williams is the best. Every time i watch a movie and i like the music, it turns out to be him. Doyle was great, too. We'll have to wait and see what this newcomer's like.

Well he won a BAFTA maybe he knows what he's doing. I certainly hope he gets the feel of Harry Potter right. I hate it when they keep changing things.

I will wait also until it is confirmed by WB. I am sure that Hooper is a wonderful composer. I believe that we can not discount his work because it is mentioned that he has worked with Yates because Williams worked with Columbus on SS, CoS and POA and the same could be said for that pairing as well, and Williams was , I think, wonderful. I own the soundtracks and do listen to them frequently and enjoy Williams, and the orchestra very much. I would love for Williams to be returning as I believe that he is, as stated so well by Mclay19, "the true musical voice for HP". I also agree with many posters that Hedwigs theme was sadly missed as were strains of Hogwarts Forever that had been smattered throughtout the other film scores.

It does say that he has worked with Yates for some time so I don't see a problem with the decision. With his credentials it's likely that the movie won't have that big of an issue and who knows maybe he'll get nominated for an award. I liked Williams too but I'm afraid that the production wanted to move into a new direction.
