HPANA has learned from a reliable and authoritative source that UK composer Nicholas Hooper
will score the soundtrack for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Hooper is a long-time collaborator of director David Yates and most of his credits are for television projects in Britain.
He won a BAFTA for Best Original Score in 2004 for one such project, according to a biography on his agents' web site.
Order of the Phoenix is slated to be released July 13, 2007.
UPDATE: This news was confirmed by Warner Bros. on August 2.

Never heard of the guy before...but i hope he is just as good as Doyle and Williams...i would be very dissapointed if Hooper didnt do a good job...but i would prefer someone with a bit more experience...but if Yates trusts him...i guess we should too

Hmm.... I'd allready posted a long, ramblin' post about how much I love John Williams, so I won't repeat myself. Well I've never heard of Hooper so I guess I'd better give him a chance.. and this goes for all you other John Williams fans.

If he's won awards hes got to be good. But I don't care who does what as long as the movie follows the book and is really good.

Hey All!
I don't like this Composer, He has composed these songs:
2005 The Girl in the Café
2002 The Heart of Me
1998 The Tichborne Claimant
Which i personally have never heard of!
Hey Guyz! Why Not "AR Rahman"?
he composed the music for Lord of the Rings Theatrical!
he is the most world renowned Music Composer!
1) The Lord of the Rings [Musical, opening in Toronto in March 2006]
2) Provoked [Jag Mundra's Aish starrer]
3) Orchestral piece for CBSO (City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra)
4) Solo pop album for UK-based pop singer, Karen David
5) The Heart of India (IMAX)
6) Listen [single]
7) Ekam Satyam [single with Michael Jackson]
8) The Golden Age : Elizabeth - II NEW
9) Film on Mozart NEW
He is a Tamil Music Director! But He is truly Number 1 in India and around the world! Why not have this Music Magician be the one to score music for Harry Potter??
Cheers,
Vinujan

vinujan says:
Time : “The billboard outside the Broadway Theatre reads, A R RAHMAN'S BOMBAY DREAMS. That name may mean little to musical-theater devotees, but in the rest of the world it's golden. Like Gershwin or Lennon-McCartney, the name stands for melody, quality, energy, instant hummability--a sound both personal and universal, devouring many older forms and transforming them into something gorgeously new.”
But the man himself remains unperturbed by all the praise and acclaim he receives. Says Rahman, " I wanted to go beyond the restrictions of language, religion and caste and music is really the only thing that allows you to do that . Besides, all the inspiration and all the good things to me come from God… ”

Until it is confirmed by the WB, I shall treat this as a rumor. If the composer has to be changed, for me, at least find someone with good credibilities, not just by connection.

Like all normal people, I prefer Williams but I suppose that we don't really have much of a choice besides not watching it which is just absurd. I just hope he can keep up. By the way, he's really ugly and plastic looking.

As I've said, I am very excited about a new composer for OotP, since it was very refreshing having Patrick Doyle score GoF. Why not switch composers, like we've switched directors? It's very cool to see (and hear!) these different interpretations of Harry's world.
