HPANA has learned from a reliable and authoritative source that UK composer Nicholas Hooper
will score the soundtrack for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Hooper is a long-time collaborator of director David Yates and most of his credits are for television projects in Britain.
He won a BAFTA for Best Original Score in 2004 for one such project, according to a biography on his agents' web site.
Order of the Phoenix is slated to be released July 13, 2007.
UPDATE: This news was confirmed by Warner Bros. on August 2.

It is a very good sound track so I hope it scores well. I hope he is a good composer and can create music just as well as Williams has. I have always loved the Harry Potter music.

Oooh... so there is gonna be a new composer again : (
And I thought Doyle did such an excellent job, he ought to have done another one! Also to promote the cohesion between the different films... But if he's Yates buddy, it might work out really well, coz he'll know what to do with Yates material and advice and such. Hoping for the best and wishing him good luck!

Okay I guess that's interesting news. I wonder why they replaced Williams, but we can rate him after we hear the soundtrack.

Well I was really hoping for Williams to come back, but I look forward to seeing what he does. Congrats to him, and good luck. The only thing that I ask is to leave the original opening music in from the first three which was sadly missing from GoF.

HPfanatic10, I think Williams chose to do the score for Star Wars 3 instead of the score for GoF, so that's why they had to search other composer.

That site says: "He has written and produced music for over 250 films, dramas and documentaries".
I would not say he has not experience.

Darn. I was really hoping they could keep the same composer throughout the movies...they're starting to go through composers like they go through directors! I'll hold my tongue for now until I can see what this guy does with the music. I stay reserved.

He won a BAFTA award. That must mean that he is good at it. For me, as long as the music is good then I don't care who does it. William and this new guy could just share the thing if they want.

I agree that Williams was amazing, Hedwigs theme is and will continue to be a classic piece of music and whenever you hear it you know it's Harry Potter, it's so magical. But I think we should wait and hear what this new bloke will bring to it. He won a bafta after all so he can't be too bad. Plus Yates had never done a movie but Dan Radcliffe says he's brilliant so the new composer may be just as good!

People, I think Williams said he won't return.
Maybe no many composers want to do the score for a HP movie, because there is a "base" they have to "respect"(the first scores), so they haven not total freedom and they will be compared with Williams too..
it's a hard job being a HP comporser...
