HPANA has learned from a reliable and authoritative source that UK composer Nicholas Hooper
will score the soundtrack for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Hooper is a long-time collaborator of director David Yates and most of his credits are for television projects in Britain.
He won a BAFTA for Best Original Score in 2004 for one such project, according to a biography on his agents' web site.
Order of the Phoenix is slated to be released July 13, 2007.
UPDATE: This news was confirmed by Warner Bros. on August 2.

Ah so it is now confirmed... I suppose he will be just as good, we hopefully won't even notice the difference if he is good at his job, the music should still be dramatic and fitting, i'm sure.

Not again. First John Williams went. He was the best. But i still would have preferred Dario Marianelli because he has scored blockbusters. Nick Hopper has only scored TV programmes and hardly anyone has heard of him before.

I don't even know who he is! I want Doyle to come back, he chose good music for GoF, he did compose GoF, didn't he? Well, I hope this guy is good, a movie without good music isn't a good movie at all.

I'm not too sure about this actually
I don't think I've heard any piece of music written by Hooper yet so I can't say weather or not I like him...
As long as his Harry Potter music goes well with the movie I don't really mind. Although I will miss William's music...
I wonder if Danny Elfman was considered for doing the HP music.....I just LOVE Elfman's music

I hope that his music will suit the next Potter movie although i don't understand why John Williams or Patrick Doyle will be doing the next one seeing as they have already done it for the first lot of movies,i do wish they would stop bringing in new people but however i wish him good luck with it all.

I hate hearing stuff to do with changes! Williams was, of course, great for the first 3, but I thought Patrick Doyle was amazing in Goblet of Fire. I was really hoping he would stay because he could OOTP a darker sound just like he did for Goblet. But who knows, maybe he'll be better than both. It does kind of bother me though that the only reason he probaly got the job is becuase he knows yates.

that's great for him, I hope he's as "brilliant" as their making him out to be, because it would suck if we were expecting more from him than he could produce, cause . . . it could be a major disappointment

After looking up his credentials, i only see four major projects he's done. I do wish him the best of luck, but i think he has a tough assignment at hand. Although, when your following up someone like John Williams, your going to have a tough time. John being the master he is:) I wasn't overly fond of Patrick Doyle as you can see;)

Well, I loved Williams too, but perhaps we we still feel his presence in the fifth movie. After all, his musical signature was still present in the fourth movie score, even though it wasn't him that composed it.

I was wondering when we would find out who was going to score this film, and now we know! I really did prefer John Williams to Patrick Doyle, but I still think he did a good job. As long as they keep Hedwig's Theme, I'm happy, even if the soundtrack is never the same as Williams'!

I imagine that Nicholas Hooper is a competent and good composer, but it shows you what connections will do for you.
John Williams has been terrific. But, so was Patrick Doyle for "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire."
I just love that CD, I listen to it all of the time!
