HPANA has learned from a reliable and authoritative source that UK composer Nicholas Hooper
will score the soundtrack for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Hooper is a long-time collaborator of director David Yates and most of his credits are for television projects in Britain.
He won a BAFTA for Best Original Score in 2004 for one such project, according to a biography on his agents' web site.
Order of the Phoenix is slated to be released July 13, 2007.
UPDATE: This news was confirmed by Warner Bros. on August 2.

I imagine that Nicholas Hooper is a competent and good composer, but it shows you what connections will do for you.
John Williams has been terrific. But, so was Patrick Doyle for "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire."
I just love that CD, I listen to it all of the time!

I haven't heard any of his compositions. I'm sure he'll do a great job with the music. It's one of my favorite parts in the HP movies.

I've never heard of this person but if he does it, I hope he does as good of a job as Williams did. But I am still hoping that this is just a rumor since I love Williams portrayal and I'd prefer they keep as much of the movie the same as possible.

I sure hope he's good. Because whoever did the score for GoF just didn't do HP any justice. (But then, neither did the director). The music is very important to me, and all I can say is, this'd better be good!

Oh well, Patrick Doyle had a more darker tone, but the soundtrack, but it was still cool. Changes opinion.

I'm fine with a change of composer, but does this mean that the music will change in every single way? There are some recurring musical themes that I really love that have been in all the movies so far,and that I would miss if they weren't there. I haven't enjoyed many of the changes that have been made to the look of the films by the directors that came after Chris Columbus,so I hope a change of composer doesn't further disrupt the consistency of the films.

I'm a person who does know a lot about soundtracks. There's no need for a discussion; John Williams was the best.
You know what I would like: let Hans Zimmer compose the music. I heard so much of him (check 'the Last Samurai Soundtrack!') and I really think he would do the best job (after Williams ofcourse!).
I was listening to 'A Small Meassure of Peace' when I was reading the end of the Half Blood Prince and I cried my eyes out.
It's just (and I'll stop writing) Hans Zimmer has such a feeling for deep emotions, tense and repetetive themes, his music would fit perfectly within the soul of Hogwarts.

Congratulations to Nick Hooper!! I really liked the work of the last composer (the soundtracks have been absolutely fantastic), but I'm sure that Hooper will do a great job as well. Good luck to him!
