HPANA has learned from a reliable and authoritative source that UK composer Nicholas Hooper
will score the soundtrack for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Hooper is a long-time collaborator of director David Yates and most of his credits are for television projects in Britain.
He won a BAFTA for Best Original Score in 2004 for one such project, according to a biography on his agents' web site.
Order of the Phoenix is slated to be released July 13, 2007.
UPDATE: This news was confirmed by Warner Bros. on August 2.

I HATE THIS! I think the jobs are jinxed! Why can't John Williams do this? My favorite and least favorite book...and they have to ruin it. Patrick Doyle...now Nicholas Hooper. I'm telling you.....WHO'S NEXT? The next thing you know the cast is going to be all new! First Dumbledore...who's next. GOSH! I'm mad!

Umm the Dario Marianelli sounded a whole of a lot better than this guy. Though I agree I really want Williams back gr! Though as alot of other people are, I am going to treat this as a rumor. Lets see what happens.

Why do they keep changing them?
John Williams means so much to me,though I also
enjoyed the GOF soundtrack alot after I've seen the film(love it) and now...I'm a little depressed, but I just have
to go and see the movie, before I judge the guy.

Wow its about time a Brit did the score. I will have to find out what work he has done and decide if he is worthy of the possistion. John Williams music was addmitedly, by the third film getting really repetative. Cal

Again, you know my point of view for that, I absolutely don't think that the best idea to make the movie better is to let the score to another composer! I loved Williams and I was angry when I saw he wasn't doing the GOF one, so imagine for the fifth! What a shock!

May Evans says:
I don't want to get dive-bombed for this comment, but putting aside John Williams' main theme songs for each of his 3 big trilogies/series (Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and Harry Potters) you can almost interchange the soundtracks between them. Each one does have a few unique parts but mostly, they sound pretty similar. I think John Williams is EXTREMELY talented, but I think it'll be nice to have someone new come in and mix things up a bit.

I wish I could hear some of his music so I know what to expect. I prefer willams but Patrik Doyle did a great job composing GOF. Hers an after thought, does anyone else think its funny that the directors and composers for the Harry Potter films are becoming like the DADA professors in the books? Hard to find and dont stick around for the next film. I don't know if anyone else felt the same. I just thought I'd put the questian out there.

I wish him good luck, the only thing I want from him is bringing the dark mood to the movie, also all the tension and the action, I want the music in the fight with voldemort and death eaters in the ministry to be PERFECT!
