Warner Bros. has now confirmed to us the release dates for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in several countries:
The newest dates give French and German fans an earlier bow for the film than English-speaking countries.

As far as I know, in France films come out on Wednesdays and here in Germany they always come out on Thursdays.
I guess they would lose money if they would bring out the films a week later in France and Germany (along with countries like Austria, Switzerland and probably Luxemburg and Belgium). In this time most people would have already been able to see the film by getting it online from someone who shares the english version and why then go to the cinema? And if you count the people who live in the named countries you can easily see how much they could lose by this.
Besides, we also got the other Harry Potter films one day earlier (as well as other "big" films that come out all over the world at the 'same' time) just because we have a new 'cinema week' starting on thursdays.
