Warner Bros. has now confirmed to us the release dates for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in several countries:

  • France - July 11, 2007
  • Germany - July 12, 2007
  • U.S., UK and Ireland - July 13, 2007
  • Hungary - July 19, 2007
  • Bulgaria - July 20, 2007
  • Australia - September 6, 2007

The newest dates give French and German fans an earlier bow for the film than English-speaking countries.

Yay! We get it before the US (like GoF)! *smiles* It would be fun if I saw it before everyone else but I don't think I can. I have school then and it's in the middle of the week so I probably won't have time *sighs*

I can't wait to see it though! :) All this news about the movie is going to getting me excited already. So how am I supposed to survive this year?!

Interesting that the non-English get the bow first. I really liked it when it showed in the UK first with a premiere. It made it seem special and appropriate. I do understand, but like it the old way better.

On the other YAYAYAYEAH!!!! Only a year before posters etc start coming out I reckon, and not very long to wait for the film though, bit risky on Friday the 13th though innit?!

People who are complaining about having to wait an extra day before seeing the fifth movie have no right to be upset. Being from Australia, I will have to wait two months after the movie has come out before I can see it. Now that is unfair, I don't understand why we can't see the movie at the same time as the US or UK. Not a happy camper.

ZoZo the Terrible! says:

Being an Australian, I'm not a very happy camper about this situation but I've decided that the idiots in WB must think the English needs to be translated into English for us... Oh or maybe they think that because our country is an island that we must have a tiny population (you see 20 million isn't enough you see)... or they feel that movie piracy isn't a problem here. I mean we normally have to wait a while for movies but 2 months is ridiculous!

*shakes head* honestly, september 6th is smack bang in the middle of term 3 so I assume they haven't done it for the school holidays. If they had that in mind they'd have OotP out in our winter holidays, which funnily enough, falls in July!

And let us not forget that the New Zealanders will also have to suffer the same indignity (assumingly) that us Aussies, so feel for them as well!

So if any of you are disgusted at this revelation, please sign the petition. No matter where you are from you are welcome to protest with us... just think how'd you feel if you were in OUR shoes!

How come the movie can't come out first in the U.S.? I visited Germany this April to bad we could't postpone our vacation a year. Still I wonder if it'll be that good the 5th was my least favorite book and other than the 4th movie the books have been better than the movies.
