Tony Maudsley
has been cast for the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix film, according to The Leaky Cauldron. Representatives for the actor have confirmed
that he will be portraying the character Grawp, Hagrid's half-brother, the site reported today.
Mr. Maudsley has had several roles in television and film, most notably in Vanity Fair (with Reese Witherspoon) and Sleepy Hollow (with Johnny Depp).
[Editor's Note: Previous reports have led us to believe that the giant would be completely computer-generated -- producer David Heyman first said so during the Goblet of Fire world premiere
and he supported this claim during at the Empire Awards. Thus, it's likely Mr. Maudsley may be the voice (or movement) actor for the character.]

He looks like a Grawp. I wonder how they're going to make him look big? They have Hagrid and Mad. Maxine but Grawp is what-15ft high or something like that. It's should be interesting. Can't wait to see.

Well done, not sure if I have seen him any films before. Hope he has a good time on the film. It will be interesting to hear from an actor who portrays an entirely CG character, especially that of a Giant.

Aww I was kind of hoping they would leave Grawp out... I don't know why, really. I guess I just think that Grawp would be better left in the books.

He was awesome in both Vanity Fair and Sleepy Hollow. I think he will do a perfectly wonderful job as Grawo. I think it would definitely be a challenge to play him though.

He looks like a good Gwarp - nice square face! It will be interesting to see him once they add the special effects that will make him look like a giant compared to the other actors - even bigger then Robbie (Hagrid).

I didn't realize that they would have an actor for Grawp, I just assumed that he would be done on computer or something, fine by me though.

I don't think I've heard of him anywhere, though he looks familiar. I checked IMDb and I really don't know what he's been in that I could've seen him. Hmmm...

He sounds like a relatively established actor, and I think he'll be burly enough to do the movements and actions of Graup...you couldn't have a scrawny little man playing a giant, you know?

Thus, it's likely Mr. Maudsley may be the voice (or movement) actor for the character.
I would hope that's the case. Otherwise I'd really have to question why they cast someone who stomps around but don't bother with Pansy, Rita, Mundungus?

Welcome! I think he looks like a great Grawp (is that a compliment??) in the picture, so once the makeup artists and costumers and probably the special effects guys get a hold of him, I think he'll be brilliant!
I can't wait for OotP, it seems like such a long time until July '07.
I think the casting people are continuing to out-do themselves, and they've done a great job so far..good work!

I sort of imagined Grawp to be a mix of Hagrid and the troll in the first film. I would like to see more human characteristics, however. If he is just the voice I could deal with it. But I remember really liking Tony Maudsley in Vanity Fair. This should be good. . . .

I hope that the computer animated Grawp looks good, they will probably have Grawp resemble the actor portraying it, most likely.
