Tony Maudsley
has been cast for the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix film, according to The Leaky Cauldron. Representatives for the actor have confirmed
that he will be portraying the character Grawp, Hagrid's half-brother, the site reported today.
Mr. Maudsley has had several roles in television and film, most notably in Vanity Fair (with Reese Witherspoon) and Sleepy Hollow (with Johnny Depp).
[Editor's Note: Previous reports have led us to believe that the giant would be completely computer-generated -- producer David Heyman first said so during the Goblet of Fire world premiere
and he supported this claim during at the Empire Awards. Thus, it's likely Mr. Maudsley may be the voice (or movement) actor for the character.]

I think that's probably true...he'd have to wear a hundred tons of makeup if they wanted him to actually be Grawp, not to mention stilts. Come to think of it, how do they do Hagrid? I know Robbie Coltrane is tall, but he isn't that tall. Does anyone know what they do with him?

Thats cool i mean its ok if hes just the movement and the vocie of him. i mean look at the guy in the Lord of the Rings thats all that he did for the character Gollum i think thats how you spell it but yeah thats what he did and even though nobody saw his really face in the movies he said that he was really happy that he got to be apart of all the movies and i think that it would just be so cool to work in the behind the secnes of the movies and that to be in it just by the movement and the vocie is really cool!!! ;) ;P ;O

I am slpendid that we are using a real person instead of a computer animated one and he does somewhat look like Hagrid in a way so I am so happy to hear he will being Grawp! Congards!

It seems the cast is filling in nicely. Good to see they haven't cut out the important Grawp story line.

Well, I haven't seen either of those, so I will have to check them out. In Van Helsing, Robbie Coltrane was the voice of Mr. Hyde, and Mr. Hyde was a CG figure, so it should be fairly common place to do.

Hmm from what it sounds like this will be kinda of like Andy Serkis' work in LotR, but likely less extensive. Can't wait until some pics of the filiming start coming in!

I can't bring to mindany of his previous film performances, but that's not a bad thing - it means that I don't have any expectations for him to disappoint! I thought, and I don't know why, that, Grawp would be a CG creation, but it's far cooler that they've got an actor. I wonder if there are any roles left to be cast now . . .

Its good if he'll only be the voice or the movement because he is npot what I picture Grawp to be. He looks to be too human. A drunken human. Hope that he is good.

Sounds good, I was wondering who was going to play Grawp. To be honest I hope it's not a computer generated deal, I would like to see a real person portray Hagrid's brother.

Hey I thought Grawp would be computer generated?? Maybe hell be the voice,(or provide the grunting sounds, rather) should be cool to see on the screen.
