Tony Maudsley
has been cast for the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix film, according to The Leaky Cauldron. Representatives for the actor have confirmed
that he will be portraying the character Grawp, Hagrid's half-brother, the site reported today.
Mr. Maudsley has had several roles in television and film, most notably in Vanity Fair (with Reese Witherspoon) and Sleepy Hollow (with Johnny Depp).
[Editor's Note: Previous reports have led us to believe that the giant would be completely computer-generated -- producer David Heyman first said so during the Goblet of Fire world premiere
and he supported this claim during at the Empire Awards. Thus, it's likely Mr. Maudsley may be the voice (or movement) actor for the character.]

I think that they have made a good choice. I remeber seeing him in Sleepy Hollow and he seemed like a good actor. And I am glad that Grawp isn't going to be CGI or anything like that.

Regardless of whether he portrays Grawp or just his voice, it's great. Grawp is an important element in the movie and he is just one of those individuals that just has to be in the movie. But I am looking forward to seeing how Grawp will be played out!

Very cool. I remember him from Sleepy Hollow. (Mmmm, Johnny Depp!) If he's mainly CGI, it will be cool to see how much of the actors personality shows through into the character.

Hmmm he looks a lot like the Grawp I had pictured in my head! And I'm really glad his part didn't get cut out of the movie like Winky's was (although I didn't much care in that case). It's so much better when they include all of the characters.

That's good that their going to give Grawp a part in the movie, I figured they'd just completely shut him out, since he's not THAT big of a character anyways . . .

He doesn't really look the type. But of course if he wasn't J.K. Rowling would say something. I guess we all just have to wait for the movie.

Glad I read that update/note thing, as even though they've done a really great job making Hagrid so much bigger than everyone else, Grawp is about 16-20 foot high. They would have to find one helluvan angle to film that using just a "regular" person.
