Tony Maudsleyopens in new window has been cast for the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix film, according to The Leaky Cauldron. Representatives for the actor have confirmedopens in new window that he will be portraying the character Grawp, Hagrid's half-brother, the site reported today.

Mr. Maudsley has had several roles in television and film, most notably in Vanity Fair (with Reese Witherspoon) and Sleepy Hollow (with Johnny Depp).

[Editor's Note: Previous reports have led us to believe that the giant would be completely computer-generated -- producer David Heyman first said so during the Goblet of Fire world premiereopens in new window and he supported this claim during at the Empire Awards. Thus, it's likely Mr. Maudsley may be the voice (or movement) actor for the character.]

I actually would like it better if he was completely computer generated. That'd be cool. Plus, I think it'd look better.

Who cares what actor is going to play Grawp? It's just the movies. Even I was interested when they announced the actors for Harry, Ron, and Hermione...but Grawp? He is a bit part!

I think that he should be put in the film then editted by the computer because he really does look like some stupid giant. Like the one I imagined when I was reading "Order..." If it's just the voice well, kurrrr-pluck then

Yeah now he looks like an average Joe, but when the make up team does their magic, BAM! People will say i didn't know giants were actually real. Cool, dude. I want to get one. Hey, bill that's what we should look for at the animal adoption agency. *of course the odds of that happening are SLIM.

Since Hetman says that the giant Grawp will probably be computer-generated, I think it's going to look a little cheesy. I really like the look of this actor's face --scary, but with possibilities.
