A newly discovered dinosaur species has been named 'Dracorex hogwartsia' after the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, made popular in JK Rowling's Harry Potter books.
In a special
satellite video feed on Monday, May 22, Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission paleontologist Robert Sullivan will describe the naming of the newly discovered dinosaur species.
UPDATE: You can read additional information here

That is so cool! Another way the HP books have found their way beyond the fiction aisle - now they need to find some more new species so they can keep naming them after things in the books! *laughs*

How weird and funny! That name doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, does it? I like what it stands for, "King of Dragons". Wonder if that means they've found a dinosaur that is a missing link between dinosaurs and dragons to prove that they really did exist? Man, that would be cool.
I'd like to see the faces of the Harry Potter hating teachers and school districts that will soon be told to teach their students all about the Dracorex hogwartsia dinosaur. Ha!

That is definitely a tribute to how big the Harry Potter series has become. To name a dinosaur after a fictional school is a pretty big thing. Correction a really really big thing because I don't think that it has ever happened before.
