Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men movie series, lamented at a Cannes Film Festival press conference
recently that he hasn't been asked to be in the Harry Potter films.
"Every single actor over 60 in England is in the Harry Potter movies," he replied when asked if he wanted to continue doing fantasy films. "I am still smarting from the fact that Ian McKellen starred in Lord of the Rings and apparently there was no part in it for me."
Prior to the X-Men films, Stewart was best known for his role as Jean-Luc Picard in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation.
X-Men: The Last Stand opens in theatres this weekend.

I think he should play Aberforth Dumbledore, he just seems like he could be a lot like Albus (but they have already had too change him once... i am hardly going to believe they will do it again). This coming from Stewart can tell you that about just everyone wants to be in the HP movies. There are still some left to be made. Who knows? Patrick may star in the 7th if there is a character who meets his description in the upcoming book.

Yeah, I read a story about this in my local paper. I wouldn't mind Patrick Stewart in the Harry Potter movies. Maybe if he puts on a fat suit, he can play Professor Slughorn in the 6th movie, although I don't think he'd be ideal for the role. Maybe he could fit a new character in the 7th movie.

As much as I LOVE Patrick Stewart, I can't see him playing any character in the Harry Potter films. That's what happens when an actor is too good at playing one signle character. At first it was so hard to see him playing Charles Xavier when I was so used to seeing him as Jean Luc Picard. But then to get used to him as another character we all feel so attached to? Just like Stewart's co-star in X-Men, Ian McKellen. I must admit that I saw LOTR before any X-Men film, and I so loved him as Gandalf that I had a hard time buying him as the cold-hearted Magneto. And when there were rumors that McKellen would replace the late Richard Harris as Dumbledore I was completely opposed to it. It would be like the great Gandalf the Gray playing the great Albus Dumbledore. It just wouldn't work. Nor would it work to have Stewart playing Dumbledore. I like his humor, but there are so many fine actors in Great Britain that there are enough parts to go around.
