When last we checked, a slim majority of fans said Harry Potter would die in the last book in JK Rowling's series.
The informal poll, conducted by HPANA, garnered over 45,000 votes and was even cited by The Sun in an article.
With Rowling's recent revelations about upcoming deaths, we decided to ask again: Dead meat, or life so sweet?
Unlike our last poll, however, you only get two choices: Yay or nay.

In the past I've leaned toward Harry living, primarily because I think it would be in keeping with one of JKR's bigger themes, good overcoming evil. However, JKR is also a sort of pessimistic person so I can see her "sacrificing" Harry for a greater good, say, as others have suggested, Harry dies while killing Voldemort. In real life there are many instances of such sacrifices and I wouldn't be surprised if JKR decided to go that route.
Of course I will be devastated if Harry doesn't make it -- who doesn't want Harry to have some peace and happiness after all he's been through? I'll understand why she did it though, at least. I'm sure she wouldn't kill Harry off just so other writers couldn't continue the series (like any of us would read those "imposter" books anyway!)
Still, on a practical note, how on earth can Harry's fate be kept a secret long enough for all of us to read book 7?! I am so afraid someone will spoil it for me! I think I'll even avoid the midnight parties and have the book delivered to my home and institute a news blackout until I've finished. Last thing I need is some idiot going right to the end and blabbing the news while I'm still on line picking up my copy!

So at least keep Harry Ron & hermione alive amongst them.
Whether she kills off Harry or not I don't think she will be that pressured to continue the series if she has already made up her mind.
Ohhhh I don't know,thinking about it is making me upset.

There's no way Jo will kill off Harry at the end of book 7. It just doesn't add up. His death would completely undermine the moral message of the series. Plus, Jo is so selfless - she wouldn't make Harry die just because she doesn't want pressure to write another book, or because another author might eventually try to steal the HP franchise (like that would work anyway).

I don't want Harry to die, and I don't understand why people want him dead. If she doesn't want to write more books about Harry after the 7th book she doesn't have to. Just cause he is alive doesn't mean we have to read more books. It would be nice, but not deadly necessary.

I just voted... I hate to say that, but I believe Harry won't survive book 7... he'll save the world by defeating Voldemort, I'm sure about that, but I think he'll die doing it... I don't believe Jo whould just kill Harry because she doesn't want others to write more books, Harry will sacrifice hiself for the people he loves that's what she was planning from the begining, I think. It's so sad tho, I wish that didn't happen, but that's just who Harry is.
Harry's only family now are Ron and Hermione and if they die Harry would be devastated, no point in living without them and things like that....

There are just too many variables as to whether he will or won't die. No one wants a hero to die. But come on, there are always more heros to be created though. And JKR isn't the type to be driven by money. Kill the hero, kill the franchise/merchandise of the series. There are so many more possibilities. Too many to many to type in today and bore everyone.
My heart says PLEASE DON'T KILL HARRY! But my gut says it's extremely possible. I'm a hopeless romantic and optimist. (Fingers crossed, prayers said...for Harry to stay alive.)

Yeah there are some corny, tear inducing, one dimensional stories but apart from that... Not to mention that the books are written from Harry's point of view. You can't just kill your point of view, can you? So I say, no way.
