When last we checked, a slim majority of fans said Harry Potter would die in the last book in JK Rowling's series.
The informal poll, conducted by HPANA, garnered over 45,000 votes and was even cited by The Sun in an article.
With Rowling's recent revelations about upcoming deaths, we decided to ask again: Dead meat, or life so sweet?
Unlike our last poll, however, you only get two choices: Yay or nay.

I hope that she won't kill him off becasue that would be too sad. But I do understand that she wouldn't want people doing their own continuation of it. The end is near but I hope it isn't depressing beyond belief!

Oooh thats a toughy! I think that JK wants everyone to believe that she is going to kill off Harry, Hense the extra hints given in her interview with Richard and Judy ("I may kill him because then it ends with me, no one can recreate him when im gone" --- not her exact words by the way)
I recon that she will actually let harry live, but will kill off someone like Hermione, Ron or Ginny o.O It seems like a twist worthy of JK.
But hey, no one knows until the book comes out ... WHEN THE BLOODY HELL WILL THAT BE! I CANT WAIT!!!

It's hard for me to say wether or not I think he is going to die. It's also really hard for me to say wether I want him to stay alive or not. One one hand it will make me cry if he does (I'll probally cry by the end of the book anyways because the series will be over) but on the other hand I think it would be amazing for the story line if he happens to sacrifice himself for the others or something. Its really hard to say wether he will survive or not, on JK herself knows the answer to that question!

Rowling to kill him so that nobody can make up a sequel, because if someone else did try that it wouldn't have the same spark that she puts in her characters, only she knows how to give her characters life. And since only one of them has to die it wouldn't make sense for Harry to be killed. But in the end we'll just have to wait. And the fact is nobody would like the idea of him dying.

You know I really hope she doesn't kill of Harry. I mean I would think that some of her readers would be kind of mad with her. To me it would be like losing a family member or a dear friend. I mean come on when Sirius died I cried and then when Dumbledore died io cryed even more. No matter who dies with the exception of bad people Im going to cry because they are like family.

Personally it just seems like she's leaning towards killing Harry off. It would be the perfect tragic ending to such a dismal heart wrenching series that we all love. It would end everything off perfectly but I still I hope that I am 100% wrong because I love him so!

It´s true that the book can´t go on forever, but killing Harry would make all of the readers sad. None of them want him to die. I agree with QueenOfAmouraq because there´s nothing wrong with Harry Potter having a happy ending. It´s true that as Harry Potter grows the books become less innocent and come more in touch with reality, but I don´t think that death should be all that happens from the time that Voldermort comes back. This is also a story like all other stories about good winning over evil. He should be able to live, and like I said before, only JKR knows how to give her characters life... and I don´t think that people would like someone else to write a sequel to it anyway unless it was JKR who wrote it, but since it´s not so they respect that she wants to end the book. But I like most people hope that she ends the book without his death and hopefully without the death of his best friends either.

Well, I think it's highly possible Harry could die in this series. I mean, Rowling can easily kill him off. And good doesn't neccessarily always win. She may not have many happy fans if she was to do that, but honestly, it's up to her. I mean, I think if Harry were to die, but there was a good reason why with a good ending, I would still think the series was worth it. Also, Rowling stated that there will not be books after the series. Which means, if Harry was still alive, wouldn't it be possible for Rowling to continue a little with the rest of his life?
