Earlier in the week we let you knowopens in new window that director M. Night Shyamalanopens in new window had been offered the first Harry Potter movie, which he declined due to other film commitments. In a recent interview, when asked about 'Potter' he addsopens in new window that he would be the "greatest protector" of JK's work, would choose the last movie if given a choice of which of the movies to direct and that passing on the first movie still "haunts him."

Shyamalan was interviewed by TLC and you can read a snippet from the interview below:

I would be the greatest protector of an author's stuff. Especially things that I respect, that I know there's inherently magic in it. I would be very wary of screwing it up, so I would be very careful....There's no way that it would be missed by lack of effort or lack of care or lack of attention. I would be giving it every single iota...I would cherish it.

You will be able to listenopens in new window to the full interview when it is released on Sunday.
