'Potter' the opera?

Is it possible for Harry Potter fans to see an opera version of the series in the near future? Well if Tiffany Moon has her way The Harry Potter Opera Cycle may become a reality

Moon, who is a composer, has completed one Potter opera solo of a seven-part opera cycle based on the books. So far she has been denied permission from Rowling as well as Warner Bros. to conduct the opera, but is holding out hope that permission may be eventually given.
Moon on the possibility of the opera becoming a reality:
I can't imagine that this could remain her position forever. That the author of a series of books that created such a powerful new interest in reading by young people across the globe would forever deny the use of her subject matter for a series of operas that could direct this same interest to another very valuable art form.
Moon’s reasoning as to why a Harry Potter opera may appeal to all fans:
What isn't it about them that makes them operatic? It's pure epic. There's the hero who doesn't know who he is, who has to grow into himself. Whose master has to die before he can take on the mantle.
(It has) fabulous love stories, conflicts. There's a very pure good/evil conflict, but more human evils show up as well. Things that make the stories a little more interesting and real.
UPDATE: HPFZ recently interviewed Ms. Moon in which she further explained her vision of a Harry Potter opera:
HPFZ: The Harry Potter series is packed with emotion, humor and bravery. Will you be focusing on one of these aspects more than the other two?
Ms. Moon: Because an opera is simply a book set to music, which conveys every part of the book, from the plot development, to the action within each scene, to the ver insides of the characters themselves, I would not be composing for the HP books correctly if I weren't writing music that encompassed all parts of the books. I'm not creating an interpretation; I'm composing precisely for each book, very nearly in its entirety.

I don't know what I would think about it... I have been to Operas before, but I couldn't imagine Harry Potter as an Opera... BUT... this series as I have said a million times before has crossed every social boundary we have out there. Anything that can bring such a diverse group of people together is in one word, AMAZING.

I don't think that lady should be turning Harry into an opera. It just doesn't seem like a good idea to me at all. It's bad enough that the movies leave things out in their adaptations. I can't imagine what kind of chop job an opera would entail.

Well...if JK and Warner Bros. give permission, I can't imagine it being a true opera but more of a rock opera like "Tommy", "Jesus Christ Superstar", etc. But I am SO interested in this!!!
I love music! I enjoy just about every kind of music there is out there to enjoy.
I'd even be into this if it were traditional opera!!!

Jeez, everywhere I go they're trying to get me to watch an opera, and they might just have, I LOVE HP, but I hate opera, it kinda even out. I wonder if they are cast from the regular movie, for the opera then i would HAVE to see that, can you imagin rupert grint singing opera?

Although we as Harry Potter fans are uncomfortable with the notion of the books being transformed into an opera, I must say that the books do contain material appropriate for one. She could easily transform the story into a moving, inspiring, and beautiful work of musical art that would lift audiences. I hope that Warner Brothers and J.K. Rowling give her permission to pursue the opera, as it would probably stun the fans. :)

I don't think it could be made into an opera. I have seen a few operas in my life and I understand they contain very little story. Harry Potter is so packed with action and all sorts of information, it is so rich in details that it could not be performed on an opera stage. Like one chapter would provide enough story for an opera but then it would not make sense.

I think JKR probably has good reason for saying "No." I mean, that's just a bit much. It would look like she was trying to milk the whole HP thing for all it's worth. HP theme park? Im all for it. HP opera...not so much.

There are to many high-class-people who have to many prejudges against Harry Potter that it could be a classical opera.
