As exclusively reported by HPANA back in April, composer Nicholas Hooper is set to write the music for director David Yates' Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, it was announced by Warner Bros. in a press release
today.
...composer Nicholas Hooper will create the film's score, reuniting him with director David Yates for whom he has scored multiple film and television projects, dating back more than 15 years. Hooper won a BAFTA Award for his work on the Yates-directed television movie The Young Visitors.
Helena Bonham Carter, who replaces Helen McCroy as Bellatrix Lestrange, was also confirmed.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is due out in 2007.

A new composer isn't a big problem, there are themes we all know from the first movie and he can't change that much - no one would recognize it. But there must be some new themes I'm looking forward to, e.g. in the Ministry of Magic.
I think Helena Bonham Carter isn't a bad choice, either. Although it could have been ver funny seeing a pregnant Bellatrix:D Can anyone imagine? *grin*

Back to the topic, This movie should be very intresting. Helena Boham Carter, I think she would make a good Bellatrix. I wonder why she was replacing Helen McCroy?

Still...Buckbeaks Flight will remain a favourate :) Over 15 years worth of experience has got to be a good sign of things to come :D Cant wait, wish it was out 2006 rasther then 2007...oh well.

I am glad to read the new composer and Yates have worked together before, and so well. I trust that Hooper will be able to find the best fitting tone to Yates' version of HP... but he has to keep in Hedwigs Theme somehow!!
And glad too that Helena Bonham Carter is in! She's such an awesome actress!!

Hmm. A bit dissapointing. John Williams was truly a heavyweight in composing music...not only Harry Potter, but the equally famous Star Wars series, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones...He has 320 gigs (and probably much more written music of his own) on IMDB.com, and I don't recognize a single thing on the Hooper profile. Maybe he will surprise us, though. Like others have said, he can't change some themes too much, but I hope he gives the right amount of power and pride to this movie's fights and action moments.

Well, I am not a HUGE fan of Helena Bonham Carter, but I think she will be well placed to portray the deranged Bellatrix Lestrange, I mean, I have to admit that as much as I dislike her, the woman can really act and adds to the already phenomonal supporting cast of the HP films.
