Author JK Rowling explicitly clarified tonight on her final appearance at Radio City Music Hall in New York City that Dumbledore is "definitely" dead.
» UPDATE: Transcripts of both evenings are now available.
She, along with Stephen King and John Irving, hosted another 6,000 people as they read from their books to raise money for charity. Rowling surprised fans with several tantalizing tidbits about the finale of her popular Harry Potter series.
While the authors all read from the same passages of their books as last night, their introductions were handled by different surprise celebrities. Actor-director Tim Robbins (who starred in The Shawshank Redemption) introduced King and Stanley Tucci welcomed Irving.
Rowling was brought on stage (again to standing ovation) by Kathy Bates, who proclaimed that the author took kids to places "Google does not go," describing the effect Rowling's books have had in shaping an entire generation of digital-age kids. At first fearful of the prospect of seeing the Potter books be made into the very digital creations they were meant to draw children away from (at the same time ruining imagination with special effects), Bates said fans "faithfully returned to the books" after seeing their incarnations light up the silver screen, and that Rowling had created "readers for life."
One audience member greeted Jo by yelling "Don't kill Harry," to which Jo responded: "Oh, no pressure then."
Tonight's audience was treated with much more informative and revealing answers than yesterday. Here are a few highlights (again, paraphrased):
Rowling later revealed that while she thought she had settled on a title for book 7, a new one occurred to her in the shower this afternoon. She declined to elaborate.
She also suggested there were to be plot twists in book 7 that she didn't think anyone has already or could possibly guess about.
Stephen King, reponding to a question about what he is afraid of, said: "When I picked up the Harry Potter books, I was surprised at the depth of the deatheaters." To which Rowling replied tauntingly: "I scared Stephen King."

I always wondered about Aunt Petunia. She doesn't seem to scold Harry as much as Uncle Vernon and she is his blood relative. If she didn't feel some kind of bond to him before he came to live on Privet Drive, she might have after Dumbledore's letter. As much as she was jealous and disliked her sister, Lily still was her family. That's got to count for something, right?!

Wow, DD is dead... I was sorta hoping, but then again, Harry has to fight LV by himself.
Plot twists so unique that a couple million fans can't figure out? What are the chances? hmmm... I still think it'd be cool if Harry could bring out the good in LV and banish the evil, leaving a new Tom Riddle... technically, LV is destroyed since the darkness is destroyed... :)

Well, I never thought that Dumbledore wasn't dead, but I'll tell you, that was one I never expected to happen, and yet why shouldn't have I? We all die at sometime, how was it I came to think of Dumbledore invincable? Meh, no matter.
I can't wait for J.K.'s website to start putting spoilers out for book seven; it should start soon, I think. I eat that sort of stuff right up.

Wow, 3 great authors at the same place, discussing their contributions to the literature world. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
And yeah, I know that Dumbledore is dead. Even though there are still parts of me who want him to be alive, no one (except Harry) can survive an Avada Kedavra. Not even Dumbledore (Res in Peace, sir.)

Well well well. I guess this just goes to show that Dumbledore truly is dead. We know that there is no way to bring the dead back to life as Dumbledore has told Harry in the past.
And Aunt Petunia? I'm sure there is much more about her than meets the eye. I wonder if she has a soft spot for Harry being as Harry is her sister's only child.
And I bet that the last book will be longer that she thought it would be. Longer than any of the books we've seen from her yet.

Thaks SO MUCH for giving us the chance to see the transripts of a marvelous event! It only makes me more impatient for Book 7,though I am also dreading it because then the series will be at an end. I can only hope that JKR will eventually find a way to release all the information and backstories that didn't make it into the books!

This is really great transcript and very enlighting. Even Stephen King agrees about the twists and turns of the book being unexpected and scary! I hope the seventh book has things nobody even thought about so that its even more fun to read.
