Last week we mentioned
that many entertainment sites had posted a release date for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Warner Bros. has confirmed for HPANA that the movie will be released on November 21, 2008, 16 months after Order of the Phoenix.
Even though this is the earliest fans have been given news about an upcoming Potter movie, please note that no additional information has been released - which means no director, no cast and certainly no composer.

Well, I'm glad it comes that soon, yet I hope it's not becoming a mere matter of schedules, regardless even of how the movie will be made. I assume this is not the case. We may soon get more detailed news as to the cast.

That's really a short time between film releases. Someone must think it's a sure thing! My only hope is that they go back to the original director and not keep trying to make the movies darker and more violent. That seems to be the trend of todays film makers, pushing society and culture into wanting to see more and more of it. This is not necessary to the plot of the book. Blessings! Hecate3fold!

I find it wierd that they decide on a release date before theyve even sorted out anything with the film, not even a director or anything...oh well. Now we know.

Good to hear that they are planing movie 6, but in the moment OotP is far more interesting and still so far away!
I'm so looking forward to see the half-blood prince in action!!! I really hope that Alan Rickman will do the job again!!!

This is great. They are keeping to schedule and that should help keep all of the trio at approximately the right age for the reminaing movies. I would be surprised at this point if they do not keep them in or that they would want to stop absent some intervening event. It must also mean that Book 7 is moving along well and that they need to get ready for it.
