Harry Potter author JK Rowling has updated
her site to squash part of a recent article that appeared in the press a few days ago. A tabloid paper in the UK quoted
Ms. Rowling as saying that "I’m up to about 750 pages now."
JKR posted on her site earlier today:
JKR has written 750 pages of book 7, and told a journalist this at the tea party for 'Driving Lessons'.
Oh pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease. I haven't written 750 pages of book seven, and if I had, I'd be very worried, as I'm not close to finishing it yet.
I was at the tea party for Driving Lessons, though, so this isn't pure fiction. The journalist reports that I said that Rupert is 'absolutely terrific' in the film. He is, so that bit shouldn't be in the rubbish bin at all.
Thanks to Peter and everyone who emailed.

I wouldn't mind if it were 750 pages or more.
But I am sad to hear she isn't close to finishing yet. I hoped she would at the point of just putting in the finishing touches and polishing it up by now.
Oh well, I guess I will just have to wait until it's done.

Well, I'm sad she's not close to finishing, but I'm happy she's owning up to that fact. Way to go JKR. Anyway, Rupert I'm sure was good, and I bet the tea party was awesome, so Happy Day.

Oh gosh, 'not close to finishing it yet.' I wonder how long we will have to wait for book seven to finally be in our hands. I was really hoping that this rumor would be true.

Well Good God how much more does she have to write if she's been doggedly working since January?! She sounds like she's not actually 750 pages in, so maybe 500. And she says she's not close to finishing so she's clearly not wanting a BIG book. When is she going to "wrap it up" if she's not close to finishing but "pretty far in"? I mean, it's like she's two-thirds in maybe, around the vacinity of say, Harry getting Hagrid and Slughorn drunk in HBP kind of area. Plenty plenty more to go, but not close to finishing. Hmmmm.

I'm so happy she loved Rupert in the movie. She has such wonderful taste. I knew the 750 pages were too good to be true though. No way would we get a 1500 page book :(

That's what I thought about the so called "news" in the Daily Sun. At least she had to update her site. But it's bad to hear that she is not close to finishing it yet.
Does this mean we have to wait even longer (maybe 2008) than many of us expect or is it possible that she will finish book 7 this year?
Questions, questions and more questions...

I am very sad it's not 750 pages. I would love a nice long last book. I think around 1000 pages would be long enough. Haha. And Rupert is terrific. ^_^

Yea! She updated her site. Yeah, 750 pages and not finished yet, that would make book 7 gigantic! Why do people make these things up when they know it'll just get refuted by JK Rowling? Well, at least he said Rupert was good in Driving Lessons.

Well, I hope she gets it completed soon! Of course not to sacrifice a good story though! I would rather wait an extra couple of months than have her rush and put out something she isn't proud of. :o) We'll wait, Jo! Just don't keep us waiting too long! :o)

MWbashfulAR, you shouldn't rush her, now. ::Chortles:: Writing is not a fast process: it's not even sluggish! Roald Dahl used to take a year or more per novel--and his were infinitely shorter than these last few books. Give her polishing time. <: (And give her editor[s] some polishing time, too! ::Chortles::)
