I wonder just how much time the directors get off between movies. It seems tough to jump from one lengthy, demanding project to the next. the HP films seem to need a lot of time before and after actual filming (of course, that's true for many films). I hope David Yates gets a good holiday before starting HBP...i want it to be fantastic!

Good news I think, OOTP really seems like it's going to be a wonderful movie! Let's hope so because if it's not we will have to expect the same for HBP, I'm hoping that both movies are great, I have faith.

Loving Every Minute says:
I hope that he does accept it. David Yates seems to be the only director so far to really believe in the deep emotional side of the story, and this becomes more and more important in the fifth and sixth books. While the first two were ok, and felt that the third one didn't have enough of Harry discovering about his amily and finally having Sirius and Luppin as almost father figures, while the fourth movie was really quite bad in that they stripped the story down to the bare carcass of a really good book.
The fifth movie was always going to be hard, because instead of huge dragons the most interesting parts are really emotional. If David Yates can see this and translate it well onto the screen, then I really hope that he does also do the sixth, since the emotionals are so important.

So he's doing 5 and 6? Cool! It's neat to know that they're keeping him for another year... I just hope he sticks to the books a little more than the others... yeah right...

That would be a new tack of again repeating a director. It will be interesting to see if he accepts. I am personally hoping for Curon in the last film. He did a great job moving the series along in the third film.

I'd like to see OotP first before deciding if Yates would be best for HBP. But, that's not my decision to make, and I'm sure they have to snatch up the director they want early to make sure that person is available and willing. Hope both movies turn out excellent!

Cool, but I want to see OotP before deciding if he would be good or not. As long as they never ask Curon (spelling wrong, I know) back, I'm happy I guess.

May 2007? Two months before OotP is released?! Wow, that's great news! The earlier they film the movies, the quicker they'll come out! ^_^
It'd be great having the same director do both films, he must be really good! Hope he accepts the offer!

From the interviews we have on OOTP it really does seem like David Yates is doing a great job and that the cast, etc. really like him. I have a feeling OOTP is going to be great under his direction, and would have no problem with him directing HBP as well. Obviously he is doing something right or he wouldn't be offered to do another one! Can't wait for OOTP!!!

Cool bananas. I am very excited to see OotP. From what we have all seen and heard it looks like it is going to be amazing. And I hope so. I sure Yates will do them justice.
I am sure it is killer hard for these directors. Trying to get as much as they can from the book onto the screen with only so much time to do so. And ofcourse everyone already has an image of how it should look and the director has to try to work with that also.

Well, as usual with rumors, I'll wait until there is confirmation from the WB.
And, since I haven't seen OotP yet, I'm not sure if I will be happy or not, if it is true.

Sounds good to me he seems to be a good director and wants to capture the emotions of the book as well as the action. Should provide a nice balance.

This is interesting. I wonder how he did on #5...
I hope he did better then Alfonso Cuaron because that was horrible, he left way too much out. I just hope Yates did a good job because #5 was a dark book and probably hard to do.
