Toby Jones, the voice of Dobby from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, confirmed
in a recent interview that his character will not be making an appearance in Order of the Phoenix.
Jones remarked:
I know that the filmmakers have a problem with each new film because the books are getting longer — there's so much to include in them.
Jones also commments on being in the second movie, Chamber of Secrets:
The thing I feel very, very proud of is the fact that I get mail just about every week of the year from all parts of the world — very nice mail thanking me for that way I voiced the character and saying how accurately I did it. So it's a great addition to my life and a very unexpected one. I had no idea that the character would have that much impact.
The article also mentions that the character of Kreacher will be in the movie and that sharp eyed fans should be on the look out for clues that may happen since JK Rowling told screenwriters what is important to include in the movie adaptations.

I'm not really surprised, as much as I like Dobby, Kreacher is essential to the plot and I would hate to think of the hurdles they would have had to go through to keep sort of true to the book without him. I'll miss Dobby though. Sadly, I'm not holding out that we'll see him again, even in the last movie.

It really sucks how they always leave out essential characters or parts of the story. However, the books are really long and if they did everything as it happened in the book the movies would probably be about 6 hours each. Dobby was one of my favourite characters though! I really love him and his odd socks... Too bad they have to cut him out.

I hope Kreacher is going to be good! I imagine him to be like Golum (sp?)/Schmeagal (sp???) from LotR. Without a good side. Just evil, and sour.

Well they certainly couldn't leave out kreacher, he's too important. but dobby had only a small role in book 5, which was to help harry find the room to practice in and warnt hem that umbridge was coming. So i'm not surprised that they cut dobby.

Shame for the actor, but in all honesty im happy Dobby got axed...i just dont like dobby at all, it irritates me so much...like jar jar binks in the new star wars *shudders* Glad kretchers been included as he should, and woohoo!
