We have previously
posted about Dan Radcliffe and Richard Griffiths' upcoming appearance in Equus on London's West End next year.
In one piece
on the play, it mentions that previews of the play will start on February 16th and the official opening night is planned for February 27th. While most of the information may be accurate, official word will not be released till next week.
In an interview with the director of the play, Thea Sharrock speaks about
her previous and upcoming work:
Though Sharrock has worked with some of the most highly respected thesps in the business, Radcliffe, a relative stage novice, is likely to draw the spotlight to the production like no-one else. "The speculation is not my problem," she states sternly. "I've just got to get on with the job. I think you get into real trouble the minute you start worrying about that kind of thing. I suspect that play itself would bring along a fair amount of speculation but then the minute you have Daniel Radcliffe in it, it brings it to a whole new level, but much like him, it's not what I'm concentrating on; we're just getting on with the play."

And anybody (of proper age) that has a chance to see Equus should go. The play itself is brilliant, and is worth seeing in its own right. I am looking forward to seeing if Daniel can do it justice (not that Dan is under par, it's that Equus is especially difficult). If he can pull this off and do well, he will have major clout and should have no trouble with the transition from "child star" to "adult actor". But I have to give him credit for even being willing to attempt it in the first place! It is about as opposite from Harry Potter as one can get. I wish him the best of luck and I will be waiting with baited breath for the preview reviews!

I wish I could see that play... see how Dan does... if he's great doing other things, or do we just know that he's awesome in being Harry Potter..

I wonder if people are going to post pictures of that production, it would be interesting if we get to see Dan onstage, I do not think too much will be "revealed" online. I wonder how many teenage girls are going to see that play just for Dan.

I am still disturbed on so many levels that Uncle Vernon will be Harry's shrink in this play. Then there is the whole Harry (I know Daniel is doing the play but he will forever be Harry Potter to me) thing and the premise of this very disturbing look into the mind of the young man Daniel is to play.
Oh well, it remains to be seen how well he will be able to pull this off. I wish him luck with it.

Oh my God! This must be fascinating. I read about the play and it's former actors. Well, Dan can be proud to play it. And it will be good for him to do other things than HP.
Ah, I think I'll have to fly to London and spend a good bit of money to see it. But I believe it's worth it.

Equus is a wonderful play. That alone should be the larger draw without question, however when you add an up and coming actor, ie Mr. Radcliffe, there are goign to be questions and anticipation. It is good to know that Mr. Radcliffe and Ms. Sharrock are looking to ignore that theme and look toward the work at hand. I'm sure it will a wonderful cast as there should be something of a buss for Mr. Griffith's is a very accomplished stage actor and should bring a great deal to his role also.

I just hope it is a clothed version. HP would be ruined for me if I knew Dan was naked somewhere preforming infront of crowds. It all goes from pg/pg-13 fun to XXX.

Ahh, is getting Dan to be the lead in the play like a publicity sort of thing? Does she really want Dan, or does she just want Harry Potter there so that everyone would want to see it? Hmm, I hope they sell the play on DVD though. Madea's awesome, man.
