Some news about Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has appeared in the latest edition of Empire
magazine. In the article, director David Yates states that he has filmed "a movie that's probably over three hours, so I'll have to lose 45 minutes in the edit."
David Heyman mentions a call from JKRowling on the casting of Luna Lovegood and Imelda Stauton states that she is amazed that it took so long for her to be cast in the franchise.

I dont think ANYONE will complain for a 3 hour HARRY POTTER movie. In Order of the Pheonix there is just TOOOO much important parts of the story to lightly dismiss away. Already they took away Dobbys important scene. I would HATE to have too many more taken away.

When are they going to get it?????
If they don't cut crucial parts of the story, I will GLADLY sit in the theater for 3 hours for a good film. Hello?! Anyone ever hear of any of the LOTR films?? Titanic?? Braveheart?? oy................

NNOOO!!! They shouldn't cut anything. I don't care if the movie turns into five hours or more, as long as the movie is great, it doesn't matter. There should be a petition that stops them from doing any cutting.

It's only 45 minutes! Why bother chopping it off? Maybe he's hoping that by saying that we'll all pressure WB into allowing him to keep it at three hours!

I dont get it, I really dcon't. there are indeed movies out there that are by far longer than three hours. Why cant the HP movies be moer than three hours long? I would sit in a cinema for ten hours without stirring for a Harry Potter film!!!

Sounds about right. Same as the others. I just did the math. If it was 3 hours and they cut 45 min.. off, then we are back down to 2hr and 25min.. Same as the rest! Boo.... I wish they didn't cut off 45 min.!!! Hey, I know what they can cut.... How about the credits!?! Heehee, we already know who stars in it, and we would all want to watch an extra 20 min. of show instead of 20 min. of black screen and white words! Well, that's my thoughts..... = )

I never get it though -- can anyone answer me this:
Why on earth do they have to cut movies? Why can't they just leave them long?
There are enough fans that'll watch a movie that's over 3 hours, so why dont' the Harry Potter movies get to be as long as LotR? I mean, Peter Jackson did an awesome job BECAUSE he put so much in, so why can't HP producers and directors do the same? Look how big a success Lord of the Rings is!
First I thought it was a financial/legal thing, but if Yates has already shot over 3 hours, why can't he sell it that way?

NOOOO why can't the movie be 3 hours long??? How does that damage the series? The LoTR films were even longer! Oh well; 2 hrs 15 minutes doesn't sound too bad....

Took too long? Aww, you'll be fine Dumbridge ...I mean, Umbridge. Don't cut it! It's be all choppy and gross like last time! We REALLY wouldn't mind a really long movie. I just love watching them on screen, and the first time is always so... [i]magical![i]

Aw, don't edit it. Come on. . .I'd be fine with a 3 hour film! The longer the better.
As for Evanna as Luna, I think it's awesome that she's such a big HP fan. And I've only heard good things about her performance.
Toodles!

Yay first page. I hope this film is the longest because there is so much to cover in the book. They better not have those long boring scenes that can be easily replaced with better ones like in GoF.

Sheese, what is it with these people? So what if the film is over 3 hours? I say leave it alone and show it that long, put in an intermission and people will be willing to pay extra to see a not chopped version that includes most of the important things. OoTP is the longest book so why would anyone be surprised if it was the longest movie?
Oh well, they just can't give us what we want. A long version of an amazingly wonderful and long book.
