Dan from 'Equus'

Update: Promotional images of Daniel Radcliffe from 'Equus' Popular (416600)

New promotional images featuring Harry Potter actor Dan Radcliffe in his upcoming West End production of Equus are now available for fans.

Producer David Pugh says of Dan:

There was no hesitancy about taking off his clothes.

He has a confidence in his own appearance. With the performances that I've witnessed, when that boy takes his shirt off, Harry Potter has flown out of Hogwarts for good.

Equus, also starring fellow Potter actor Richard Griffiths, begins previews on February 16 and the official opening night is planned for February 27.

Please note that these photos contain quite a bit of bare skin, which has caused a fair bit of concernopens in new window, according to the New York Times:

Thanks to Jenna and Page for the original tips and images.

I still feel sadness at his taking this role. I feel it has cheapened him, just a flash of skin. There are plenty of fabulous roles out there to persuade people he's a real actor, not just Harry. I hope it's not just for publicity.

Wow, Dan looks great! I am so proud that he is taking on mature and risky roles (rather then some fluffy teeny movie; I am sure he has been offered lots of roles like that!) He is going to be a great actor if he keeps up this diversity.

Um, need I say that there are probably many blushing female visitors to HPANA at the moment? :D

I think this quote: "...when that boy takes his shirt off, Harry Potter has flown out of Hogwarts for good.", sums it up.

Those of you who are stating that Dan is underage, he's not. He's British and here in Britain the age of consent is 16.

I think that this play is going to be the making of him. No matter how much we adore him as Harry, he cannot afford to be typecast for life.

Break a leg Dan!!

Dan is playing two very different roles, which is probably great for his career as an actor. Harry has very little self-confidence when it comes to girls, and from what I've heard concerning Equus, the character Dan plays in Equus is very different.

I'm sure that he's acquired a lot of acting experience in the past year or so, and I can't wait to witness his progress. He's done a great job as Harry, and it is exciting to think of how his talent may have developed as of late. Taking on Equus was daring, and I'm glad he did it.

ThePrinceOfSpinnersEnd says:

Biologically he's been a "man" or "adult" for years... it's only our "laws" of human society that make 18 mean adult. I wouldn't call this "near the line of pedophelia"... he's 17, not 9! In a few months he'll be legally 18. What exactly do people think happens then, something magical that makes somebody "adult".

Thank you!!! Talk about an over-reaction. Fair enough to say it's weird to see given we've watched him grow up, but he IS grown up now, so no-one can call it paedophilia.

hermionefan1 says:

I know i shouldn't be saying this because i'm 24 and he's underage, but...DAMN HE'S HOT AND VERY RIPPED!

I'm 22 and he's been legal in England for a year and a half!! ;-)

In fact, in England it's not 18, it's 16. :)

MollyMomma, please read Equus, it's a great play, there is not better role for a 17 years old than Alan Strang, the character Dan is playing. Don't read tabloids, because half the thing they say are not true. This play is more than nudity, in fact that's the less importnat thing.
The fact brilliant and serious writter Peter Shaffer chose Dan to play one of the most difficult character in all history is a great prove of Dan's talent.

Woah! Dan has definately grown up! What great pictures! It's provocative, but it's tasteful. The nudity doesn't look unseemly, and it actually looks really beautiful. If I were in the area, I would definately make an appearance at the play. The images make me want to go! I'd love to see the adult side of Dan. That's awesome he's so comfortable being in the nude. I'm an actor too, but I'd be dead scared to even wear a swimsuit let alone get naked. I'd probably get used to it though. You rock Dan!

All I can say is WOW, Dan. He look so hot and mature. He has grown up into such a man. He looks so grown up with his tiny beard, I love it. I love this side of him, more to our ages than Harry Potte. I know believe he will have a sucessful turn, from his Harry days to being consider a great actor in adult form.

*snaps back to reality* OK, I'm good now.

It must have taken a lot of courage to do that. Maybe I'm just being old-fashioned or whatever, but I'd find it hard to be naked in front of thousands of people. I admire Dan for doing the play, though. I really hope it helps out his career.

So... anyone want to buy me a ticket to London?

It's different to see him in such a different character than Harry. He's the face that we have come to know as Harry. I'm sure he'll be great in whatever he does, but I think it will shock all of us Harry fans who expect him to draw a wand and shout some incantation.
