According to a lawyer for JK Rowling there are currently no plans for an e-book version
of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to be published on July 21, 2007.
Ms. Rowling has previously stated on her web site that only authorized versions of her books are available via print or audio and this helps with the "growing incidents of piracy."
You may remember that in January 2005 we mentioned a site that was offering electronic versions of all six Harry Potter books, the sixth months before it was even published, so please be aware of sites that offer e-book versions of the series -- they don't exist.

the article went on to say there were never any ebooks legally published, because JKR promotes people reading paper versions... I saw that on msnbc.com this morning. I don't blame her, I think it'd lose it's authenticity if I read it online. Just not the same.

While I understand that e-books appeal to some people, I've never liked reading ANYTHING on a screen. Sometimes I'll print something off the computer just for the sake of having it on paper.
This is going to sound really weird, but does anyone else love the smell of a new book? :D There is just something about actually holding the book that is special.

Yay for Jo. I agree e-books would lead to piracy and I just don't think pirating HP(or anything else) is right. Besides it's much better to be able to pick up a book and find a comfy seat than having to read it on your pc.

e-Books would make piracy a lot easier... so it's no wonder there are currently no plans for them (maybe years from now once the hype has died down). Anyway, I would never want to read an e-book; as others have pointed out, you would have a terrible headache after a couple of 'pages'! And I prefer having a hard copy anyway.

I remember seing that ages ago..I wasn`t on here but I didnt believe it anyway so.....
Its no biggie. I think the real book is way better anyway

Yeah, JK made a good decision - It's so much better having the actual book in your hands and sitting in a comfy chair, rather than reading it from a computer screen. Who could read the whole e-book anyway!? It's quite insane.

I really do not blame J.K for being in favor of paper. Reading a book electronically doesn't even seem like real reading to me. Reading a book is supposed to be an experience like none other, holding a bundle of papers bound together and spilling your coffee on them when you get excited! Besides, I really could not tolerate because I get massive headaches with electronic reading. Just my opinion!

shadowquill, No you're not the only one that enjoys the smell of a new book. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I enjoy going out at midnight, and getting my hands onthe books, curling up on the couch with some girl scout cookies ( I freeze some for every new book to eat while reading)
From a legal standpoint, not having e-books makes perfect sense. It would be WAY too easy to pirate something like that.
