Due to the recent press coverage of Daniel Radcliffe
's controversial play Equus, the possibility of Warner Bros. firing the actor have triggered the rumor mill. However, the company responsible for the Harry Potter movies have issued an official press release fully supporting Daniel's choice of appearing in the play.
Daniel Radcliffe is an extremely talented actor, as well as a great collaborator and friend to Warner Bros. Pictures. We've had great experiences working with him on our films and fully support him in the artistic choices he makes as an actor.

And they'd be idiots not to!! Who would ever think that Dan would be fired from HP? If they did, there would be such an uproar. Nobody would go to see the films, I know I wouldn't!! That goes for any of the actors and actresses. The fans love them too much to let anything happen to them. That's what makes Harry Potter so great!

Just because Dan does a "nude" scene in a play would be no reason to fire him from the series. Besides a decision like that by WB would mean death to their mega-money movies and they aren't going to let that happen. Cause whether we like it or not NO ONE could ever play Harry Potter and be successful in the role created by Dan.

My heart skipped like three beats when I read "firing Dan".

What rubbish! Fire him? Are you kidding me? Daniel means dollar signs to Warner Bros. They're not getting rid of him. Dan is the face of Harry and Warner's is very aware of that. They are there to make money not lose it.

WHEW! I heard this the other day and I was a little worried. Big production companies (especially the so-called "family friendly" ones) often dump their actors/actresses for things that might be seen as morally offensive. Thank goodness that WB isn't like that. Although, it could just be that they know firing Dan would definitely affect the HP francise and they have to watch their bottom line $$.

I think it would have been horrible to fire him over doing a play. I don't think Equus would "shatter" Harry's image that Daniel has created. It is two separate things. That is part of the problem with people who are unable to separate the person and the role.
