A review
of NECA's new
Harry Potter action figures is now available online and while the author favors some aspects of the figures he only gives the Harry and Dementor figures three out of four stars saying in part:
Dopey Deatheater is never going to be a favorite for me because of that expression. Having one less accessory doesn't help either, since the body, arms and base are all reused.
Finally, there's our hero Harry. As much as I love the head sculpt, those damn glasses are just too distracting. Had they managed to capture the right size, he would have gotten a much better score. Of course, the lack of accessories at this price point would still hold him back from four star nirvana, but let's be honest - this is easily the finest Harry action figure so far.

I dont want to hear about any more toys! For God's sake half of the stuff on the Wizard Wire Service or whatever is WAY more interesting then what people think about the action figures....just my opinion.

Gotta give him points for honesty... I agree that Harry's glasses are a little odd, but I'll still probably buy them all just for fun. I am still curious at how much they will cost.
Hey Geri, the first link isn't working for me. Might wanna check it out.

Interesting view and perspective. It would still be fun to own these, even if they only got 3 out of 4 stars.

I guess I don't really understand all of the excitement over these toys... Is it because they're for collectors? I just don't get it. Well, one day I might be eating my words when they are worth millions okay, maybe just thousands.

I think that Harry's glasses are a bit too big, and so he looks almost wrong (I said almost!). I'll proberly still buy it tho.

Patronus Wiz - I don't really care if they're ever worth much - but yah, it's a collector thing. I'm really looking forward to having a shelf up on my wall with all of the little characters. I guess you have to be really HP-obsessed and like collecting things. :)

That is interesting that he is so critical, but it is his right to be. I do think that they are the best ones out so far and will probably be getting better as the next few movies come out.

Actually, I think the Voldemort is excellent, the Harry Potter is pretty good, and...well, I sort of understand what they say about the "dopey" Deatheater, but...hey. These are WAY better than anything they've thrown at us before. :)
Still, if I spent money on figures, I'd want my favorite protagonists, not antagonists. (Harry, Ginny, Ron, Hermione, Luna, Neville. Ah, and I suppose maybe Cho.) Even though Harry Potter is the biggest thing since Star Wars (IMO), I know they'll never make all the characters. That is what I don't understand. Harry Potter is such a huge phenomenon, and companies are passing up all of these commercial opportunities? Is it because the rights are distributed only to a small few? *scratches head* You'd think they would WANT to make money, right?
I hope this is only the tip of the iceburg and that more will be made. :)

Ouch! That review is somewhat harsh, kind of a Simon Cowell kind of person I suppose. I think they're awesome, and if I get the money, I'm definately going to add at least one for my doll collection!

I like Voltimort, the Death Eater and the Dementor. Nice detailing. But the Harry is not s great...glasses are too bulky, outfit is GoF, and it seems to me it should be OoP.

I agree that the glasses are out of size, and should have been better. However, these images are from GOF, and companies should be gearing up for selling OOTP goods.
