Thanks to "the worst kind of Muggles" -- those who ruthlessly attempted to spoil the enjoyment of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on HPANA in 2005 -- we've implemented a comprehensive set of protection policies for Deathly Hallows, which are now live.
Unfortunately they are rather strict and cripple much of the site's functionality, but we would like to err on the side of caution rather than convenience. As such, members who joined after July 1st, 2007 or who have less than 100 points will not be able to post in HPANA's forums at all, effective immediately. External images and links have been disabled until after the book release, and the Wizard Wire Service on HPANA's home page has been temporarily removed.
We hope these and other minor changes will help ensure a spoiler-free experience on the site. Please don't hesitate to contact one of the moderators if you find something spoilery anywhere on the site.
Also note that any spoilers (scans of the book, chapter or plot summaries or elements) prior to its official release at 12:01 a.m. on July 21 will be removed and the poster's details, including IP address, will be forwarded to the Harry Potter publishers and JK Rowling's office. (Not to mention, banned from HPANA.)

Thank you so much Jeff! I noticed the wire right away, and am really glad for all of these changes! Not to mention that (fingers crossed) this will make our jobs much more tolerable!
Thanks for all the great work!

Thanks for all the measures being put in place. I may have already been spoiled, but I certainly wouldn't want anyone else to be!

Thanks very much. I read about this in the paper yesterday actually. :D
Sadly, I don't have '100 points'. :( Oh well. I guess you've got to do what you've got to do.
It'll be fun reading the conversations ... I guess. :(

As always, HPANA is looking out for us. I am getting more paranoid by the day that I will somehow find out what happens before I can finish the book (even regular parenting tasks like walking my son to camp suddenly seem like they are fraught with danger!) For those of us who can't read the book all night/day until we finish or our little guys might feel orphaned, this is gonna be tough!
Thanks again, Jeff, and the staff of HPANA! Looking forward to seeing you all back here sometime next week!!!! Enjoy, everyone!!!!

I think this is very good. I was spoiled of all the chapter titles last time by the wizard wire, so thankfully that has been disabled, even though I've been avoiding it, to prevent others from making the same mistake I did. Thank you so much for all these changes, so this way I can stay on the site until the book is released without feeling worried!

I am really glad to see this. It is amazing that people want to spoil things. It would be a shame to miss the enjoyment for one self. We can discuss all we want in a few weeks, with warnings for newbies.

Thanks a ton. I acidentlly came across it today on a website that had nothing to do with Harry Potter. Reading it would take the fun out of waiting for the release.

That's good, I was worried the book would be spoiled for me before I get to finish it by those who read it the first night.

Good plan. Good job, you guys. So far I've only had to threaten death upon one person for daring to attempt to spoil the book for me. Still, I remain on edge and nervous.

Thats really good to know. Figures some immature people would like to spoil everyones joy of the book. But if I do say so myself I probably wouldnt have to time to come back on HPANA because I will reading in my spare time : ]

You know it really is a shame that these types of measures have to be taken to avoid someone totally ruining this wonderful experience for those of us who have anticipated this book.
I am glad that these measures are being taken I would hate to see something by accident.
I personally am avoiding the internet starting Friday morning as well as all news. I am going to try to avoid knwoing anything ahead of time.

Those are such good rules, thank you so much. I hate people who spoil things like that. Just by posting one sentence or twoo can ruin the entire book.
