Jim Dale, the U.S. narrator of the Harry Potter series, is one of the few people in the world who knows how
the Harry Potter series ends.
Dale finished recording for the audio for the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book over two months ago, a process that took two-and-a-half weeks and is sworn to secrecy as to how it ends.
He has recorded every single word of the series, amounting to 117 hours and 4 minutes, won a Grammy and holds the record for creating the most voices in an audiobook in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Mr. Dale will be at the Union Square Barnes & Noble in New York this Friday, July 21 where he will discuss
how he got the role of narrator, how he creates his characters’ voices and read excerpts from the previous books. After the release of the last book in the series he will do a tour of Houston, Washington, Charlotte, N.C. and Philadelphia.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released in hardback, braille, deluxe version and audio Cassette/CD on Friday, July 21st.

Just think, in a few days, we'll know just as much as Jim Dale! Yay!
Also, I can't imagine how hard it must be to do all of the different voices, so, Jim Dale, if you're reading this, congrats!

If I was him, I would have to go into hiding. I guess I don't have a good poker face!
I didn't realise that he held a World record! Maybe after I've read all of the books, I will listen to them. Not only did he create different voices for the characters, but throughout the series the teens should have gone thru voice changes. Maybe someone who listens to the books could comment on that?

I've only listened to I think the first two chapters of Half-Blood Prince (I read the rest of the series) and he's got plenty of voices in just those chapters alone! I dunno how he does it, but he's awesome!

I bet he would of had to be put under a contract or something, just his word won't be enough but anyway great job with him and the audio.

Is Jim Dale not going to be calling us this year? :D
I missed that last year - my mom goes "Hey, someone just called and said Harry Potter was out this Saturday" I said "Mom, that was Jim Dale. Why didn't you tell me?" She goes "Jim Dale...?"
I wouldn't want to know how the series ends yet. I would hate it.
And it's very cool that he's coming to Charlotte. I might try and meet him. Any details on that tour?

I'm excited to hear how he handles this. I haven't listened to any of the series but I think it would be odd to hear the characters with an american accent...does this not make it odd?

Mrs. S. Snape--Jim Dale is British, he just happens to be the narrator of the US editions.
And for OOTP I think he did something like 134 distinct voices. He is absolutely brilliant! His Umbridge has got to be heard to be believed! It's absolutely the best! :-)

Lucky Lucky him!!!!! Although he can't discuss it with anyone so he has to keep all his feelings and views bottled up, so maybe he's not so lucky after all.
